On Books And Feeding Yourself

On Books And Feeding Yourself | Counseling | Scoop.it
I do not eat nor read leisurely. I eat and read like I suspect that maybe every book and grain of sugar is saving my life.
Debbie McJimsey's insight:

The author's description of her experience with books I think illustrates very well Dabrowski's Over-Excitabilities. I think I will be referring to these descriptions in my next SENG class.

Description of Dabrowski's is presented nicely here: http://chermerecafe.blogspot.com/2009/06/dabrowskis-overexcitabilities.html - though refers to gifted children, I think applies to adults as well (I identify with several and I'm 43!)

And, for more normalizing and celebrating - we can always look to Living with Intensity: http://www.greatpotentialpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/Living-with-Intensity-preview.pdf

Why leaders should learn to channel their inner introverts

Why leaders should learn to channel their inner introverts | Counseling | Scoop.it
Introverts are rarely the public face of a company, but they can teach CEOs a lot about how to manage others
Debbie McJimsey's insight:

I'm learning more and more to value my introverted nature!  I found this surprising statistic in the research ... that 25% of the CEOs studied are actually introverts!  I'm intrigued to learn more about Extroverts learning to better manage Introverts, and the link to the younger generation who is used to being listened to ... lots to think about :-)

Debbie McJimsey's insight:

This is such a good point!  Now, if only I could enjoy the process of learning a new habit, the way I enjoy the process of learning the lyrics of a song and then belting it out with crazy confidence (in the car, alone, windows securely rolled up).

Why Partners Don’t Want Their Hypocrisies Confronted - | Counseling | Scoop.it
Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “At the entrance of a second person, hypocrisy begins.”
Of course you know hypocrisy is rampant in politics. Yet, how often do you stop and think about how pervasive hypocrisy is in committed loving partnerships?
