Old Hollywood makeup, sexy, not to provocative, classic, beautiful. When people enter the makeup design world they tend to drift toward their favorite particular style, classic wedding, moden editorial, classic vintage, there is hundreds of different styles. For me I feel this classic look has stuck in my head, things like this or rockabilliy or vintage pin up seems to be where my inerest lyes and it is what I dream of being able to build career out of. Being able to go to work everyday and create stunning makeups like these would simply be a dream come true.
I truly do love nearly all types of Editorial makeup design and themes. However, for me personaly the Vintage Pin Up style holds a special and dear place in my heart. It started when I fell in love with classic 20's-40's pin up and it grew from there as I slowly turned pages on the history of classic woman entertainment. This photo is a pefect example of the type of pin up photograhpy that is most popular right now and an even better example of what I one day hope to design.
Stunning. This makeup is a great example of an editorial makeup you would see in a magazine. Its dark and dramatic and successfully grabs your attention, it would be great for a mascara or perfume, possibly lip stick ad. They made sure her skin was pale and even, then accented it with a dark bronzer along her cheek bones only giving way to the darker lip and eye makeup. The gold on her eye lids makes this entire makeup, its just enough sparkle to keep the makeup dark yet beautiful and powerful.
I am aboslutely in love with this makeup design. Many woman in the Hispanic culture will apply Day of the Dead themed makeups for their weddings and this follows that traditional design completely. The makeup does apear slightly photo shopped but the design in breathtaking and I feel it truly captures the beauty of this bride and her heritage. These makeups take so much detail, focus, and time its simply incredible and I dream of one day being capable of creating such beauty.
The makeup artist used whimsical flowy designs on the face in order to contrast the tight straight shape and design on the clothes. The makeup truly is simple yet elegant, its a great example of an edgy editorial makeup kind of just in between a fantasy makeup and editorial makeup.
I am head over heels in love with this photo, everything about this is perfect and gorgeous. What I like most about this makeup design is its classic appeal. Her hair is vintage 1940's and is wonderfully executed and the combination of the dark flat lip color and the sliky pale colored hair piece puts the finishing touches on taking us back in time with this photograph. Yet the one thing that send the picture the oposite direction is her facial piercing, I truly love the piercing so I feel it enhances the picture. This is exactly what I one day hope to build a career out of, make up and hair designs that follow this style brings me so much joy and I love creating it.

Sierra Raine Perry's insight:
I was in disbelief when I found this picture. At first I got really excited and was determined to actually do this to my hair.. on my own. Then I realized I needed a reality check,as much as I am in love with it I am no where near experienced enough to properly execute this hair dye. Still though, this picture carries meaning for me, it represents what I one day aspire to be able to create, maybe I will even try it on myself . It gives the essence of a Fantasy design and is very Editorial and i absolutly can not wait until my hair is this color; but I will wait until I learn all I need to be able to feel confident in attempting something so complex and extreme.

Sierra Raine Perry's insight:
Who knew you could create eye makeup out of well known Disney classics? I can totaly picture this being published in a makeup design magazine, the problem with these makeups is they appear so simple yet the little details in them make all the difference. They are all look so perfect and precise and I cant imagine how much time it must have taken to get these designs to such high quality. Like I said they seem so simple, that is until you start thinking about creating one of these makeups and then you realize how complex it is and how difficult to execute properly it would be.
This design takes the classic Mexican Holiday Day of the Dead makeup design known across the world and meshes it exquisitely with a modern and slightly more american look. Instead of long flowing curls the hair is rolled and pieced together in an updo with a large dress strap across the shoulder filing where the hair would have been. The makeup on the eyes and lips follows the classic Day of the Dead makeup yet the design across the cheek is very non-traditional and almost misplaced in the design. Though I must say this artist did a very effectve job in blending the Hispanic culture with a modern American look.

Sierra Raine Perry's insight:
The designer took a very detailed back story to create a very simple makeup that in her mind told a story. I enjoy where she gathered her inspiration and her execution was very creative and I liked her design. though I feel the makeup was a little to simple, with such dramatic back story I anticipated an equally as dramamtic and details makeup design.
