(From the article): Don’t talk yourself and your team into continuing a project if it’s not working. Stick to the facts and take action on them, even if that action is simply to move on.

Getting an outside perspective is often the most difficult. Your best friend who reviews your new mobile site is a good sounding board, but she’s biased by believing in you. Your agency can certainly provide insights into what’s wrong with your marketing, but they also want you to sign that new contract. There’s that conflict of interest again.

The best outside perspectives come from outside.

Karen Dietz's curator insight, May 26, 11:10 AM

This article by Mitch Baranowski and Raphael Bemporad is all about the extent of aspirational consumers and how to reach them. This has huge implications for both branding and storytelling -- because they are the largest consumer segment globally.

What is the biggest implication? Branding is not a tool for marketing. Storytelling is not a tool for branding. Instead, both are ways of being. As the authors say, "What’s new here is that Aspirationals don’t want flat, empty statements conveyed in slick ad campaigns. They want brands to embody a deeper purpose." The authors provide links to research plus provide examples.

Storytelling is the way to communicate deeper purpose, vision, values, and beliefs. Story is the way these come alive. Story is the way companies embody them -- it's the ability to walk your talk.

That being said, the 5 ways offered here to engage aspirational consumers all involve storytelling -- your stories give them something to believe in, build a shared story they want to belong to, you can share their stories as a way to amplify their voices plus give them social status, and the body of stories forms a platform for action.

So get your story on and connect better with this increasingly powerful consumer segment that is only going to grow.

A Wonderful Wheel featuring iPad Apps for Autistic Students ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | CorpXcoach.com | Scoop.it

"I must admit that apps for autistic learners are really scarce and hard to find. A few months ago I posted here a list some powerful apps for autism and today while I was looking for new apps that might have been created since the publication of that list I came across this wonderful wheel.

I know that the first thing that comes to mind when you see this wheel is the popular pedagogy Wheel created by Allan Carrington in which he provided suggestions for 62 apps based on Bloom's Taxonomy. The present wheel is developed by Mark Coppin in which he featured a wide variety of apps for autistic students."

Daniel Watson's curator insight, June 8, 4:26 AM

Constant interruptions seem to be part and parcel of the daily life of a business owner, but  as every interruption plays havoc with productivity and overall performance, a business owner needs to work to limit the number of interruptions that impact on their day.

Whilst interaction with employees is a necessary part of being a leader, a business owner needs to also complete a daily list of tasks, and to be able to do so he/she must be protective of the time they have available each day.

This excellent article, suggests that constant interruptions are the greatest source of impaired productivity, and it offers seven ways for a business owner to deal with interruptions to their day.
