Very good analysis of why innovation process needs to be distinctly different from the core, from the optimization engine. I love the last part where Nicolas highlights the need for a fully dedicated innovation feature team and the need for consistency and "a unified team, bonded in faith and deep conviction". Spot-on in so many ways.

I am getting more and more sensitive on how corporations are setting social and other norms.... Here again on work, why we need it, and what makes us happy... what a crap!

 

"Page: I totally believe we should be living in a time of abundance, like the Peter Diamandis book. If you really think about the things that you need to make yourself happy: housing, security, opportunity for your kids. I mean, anthropologists have identified these things. It’s not that hard for us to provide those things. The amount of resources we need to do that, the amount of work that actually needs to go into that is pretty small. I’m guessing less than 1 percent at the moment. So the idea that everyone needs to work frantically to meet people’s needs is just not true"

 

Just make sure you read this twice:

 

"the things that you need to make yourself happy: housing, security, opportunity for your kids."


I hope there is more than meeting basic needs....
