For a number of years I logged more air miles than most of the crew members. Everything we do is an individual expense today.Who else remembers how awesome it was to travel when the airlines could serve food on real plates with real silverware. The extras that were previously included  are adding up to lots of revenue for the airlines. Will we have to bring our own toilet paper on flights soon ? Can we expect a fee to use  restrooms in flight called  Pay to Pee.(PTP) ?  #airlines#businesstravel#travel

Michael Kabo's curator insight, May 12, 2015 2:29 PM

These are fees from luggage fees and TICKETING FEES. Yes ticketing for those of you who still believe that going to the airlines direct costs nothing, get ready to be shocked. Here is the actual breakdown;

As an industry, the airlines in 2014 collected $127.4 billion in ticket sales, so baggage and schedule change fees added another 5% on top of fares, helping the airlines achieve a collective operating profit of $14.6 billion.
