A common trait that seems to be shared between conservatives and Libertarians is an honest lack of knowledge, awareness and sensitivity towards how other people who are not like them are living in a given society. While this is, in itself, an excusable enough phenomenon, the lack of curiosity, acknowledgement and sensitivity towards other peoples' conditions makes this aspect of conservatives' and Libertarians' world view less acceptable in my own eye at the very least.
If you're going to occupy a position of consequence, authority, responsibility and control in our world, the main object of your concern, from a selfish point of view, should be towards the others' needs, condition and concerns, etc. Now this could very well mean respecting the privacy and space of the other. But failing to recognize, accept and look for that which is going to be hidden from your perspective is the surest way to face increased challenges from the external world in which you're just another piece of the puzzle. How it is that people support those with very limited and narrow definitions of tribe and self in places where the tribe and self extends to the whole of the world or the nation is beyond my ability to see. But I at least acknowledge that that is a way that people vote, whether I like it or not. I think it's incredibly caustic for humanity as a whole to put those who are uninterested and uninformed about the rest of the world. But, that's just me, and I acknowledge it as such.
Think about it.
