Content Curation Tool: eduClipper Launches Its "Pinterest For Education"

Content Curation Tool: eduClipper Launches Its "Pinterest For Education" | content marketing | Scoop.it

Excerpted from review article on TechCrunch:
"This week the teacher-turned-entrepreneur Adam Below officially launched eduClipper, a platform that allows teachers and students to explore, share and contribute to a library of educational content. In both function and design, it’s essentially a Pinterest for education, with one notable difference: Because eduClipper is built exclusively for teachers and students, unlike Pinterest, you probably won’t find it blocked by your local school.

Educators and students can explore thousands of pieces of educational content, find lesson plans, resources and videos and search for the most popular content by subject or interest.

With eduClipper, users can share individual eduClips (or pieces of content) or eduClipboards (collections of content) with colleagues or students while cross-posting or embedding that content on other social platforms or sending them through email.

EduClips are created through the site’s bookmarklet (a Chrome extension), so once it’s installed in their browsers, teachers and students can grab any content they find on the web, Google Drive, Google Apps and more, and add them to their collection, i.e. their eduClipboards. Once grabbed, the site automatically grabs the source link, too, so that it’s easy to get back to the original content and easy to give proper citation.

Teachers and students can share these clipboards so that their classmates and colleagues can collaborate on assignments or in-class activities, create groups to share these resources with and align the content that’s clipped and shared to Common Core Standards. That’s the big advantage of eduClipper over Pinterest, that content can easily be organized and annotated for each class or subject by way of these learning collections. It also has the benefit of being created by a teacher who has spent the last five years searching for and curating the web’s best educational content..."

Nice.

Effective storytelling for business

Effective storytelling for business | content marketing | Scoop.it

As content takes its rightful place at the forefront of marketing, I'm seeing many marketers fail at basic storytelling.

Marketers are ineffective when they use the classic "customer testimonial" format and pop that onto their blog or make it into a video. "Here’s our product. It is great. Here are customers who say it is great. Now buy some of our product." This just doesn't hold people's attention.

How interesting would a book or movie be were it to have this plot?:
Boy meets girl.
They fall in love.
They get married.

That's what most people do with their business writing.

Effective storytelling

The best stories drip with conflict. They have a hero and sometimes a villain. There is a story arc. As a writing teacher once told me: "Writing without conflict is propaganda."

All business have conflict: lack of sales, poor service, employee malaise...

The issue is often that management doesn't want to talk about the negative but you have to have a hellish situation in order to make a story compelling.

wanderingsalsero's comment, June 19, 2013 8:17 AM
After having played around with this a little bit, I must say that I found the instructions a bit lacking. Matter of fact, I wrote them a 'customer service' email with my question and got no reply. In their instructions they show two steps but I could only intuitively find one. Furthermore, I hate it when companies don't think that their product to have a tutorial with an actual human voice but rather throw up some cute little video might get and award for cute music and animation but isn't worth crap to actually telling people how the damn thing works.

[UPDATE] Hi, we are happy to say that we have done extensive work on all the feedback we received from many people and the we will publish a series of releases in the upcoming week and thereafter to meet many [not all] of the expectations people have.

Even though we understand that some Favebucketeers miss functionality it is also fair to say that in this startup stage it is impossible to do everything at once. The upcoming release will deliver browser extensions and many other new features (like several import functions) and even more important, improvements that make Favebucket faster and even more stable.

Hello. My name is Youga Fally Mbengue. I am Senegalese, 30 years old. I have discovered this wieb site and I see that I have found what I was loooking for. I followed English studies and I graduated in 2009 in American Literature and Civilization. Since 2009, I have been unemployed because of this wrong governmental system. For 4 years I have been looking for a job, in vain. I come now to discover to web site, I read the testimonial of successful work partners and I became convince by the possibilities you offer.
I am among the rarest Senegalese people who master the English Language and who are aware of the worldwide technological development. My love for the English Language, My lust for a job, and my understanding of the new world order are my assets to work with you.
I confess, I have no experience in Marketing, or Sale and I have never had a bank account but I really wish to work with you nomatter how. I send you attached the scanned copy of my passport to prove my words and make sure that I am not a scammer as there are in African countries.
I need someone to guide me step by step, hoping that I will be the first Senegalese to ever become a millionnaire working online.
Thank you for your assistance.

Social Media and Content Marketing 2013 Predictions

Ally Greer's curator insight, December 4, 2012 7:01 PM

My prediction is that content marketing is going to continue drastically changing the world of SEO and diminishing the value of paid keyword advertising.

Also, content creators and distributors are going to become integral parts of every organization, with the creation of new positions, even at the C-level devoted specifically to content.
