A Golf Lesson in Content Marketing Success | Internet Billboards | Content Marketing Tips | Scoop.it

This is the eighth letter in a series on Professional Content Marketing.

World class golfers like Tiger Woods see the game of golf differently than you and I…

…but the hard reality is that difference has nothing to do with their athletic abilities, work ethic or God given talent. It would be much easier to accept our lack of success if this wasn’t true. It’s much easier to accept the success Tiger Woods has achieved, including fourteen major golf championships, if it were all the result of simply being chosen by some higher power.

Why Stories: 90% of Orgs Use Content in Marketing [INFOGRAPHIC] | Content Marketing Tips | Scoop.it

Did you know that 90% of all organizations use content in their marketing efforts?

Although the phrase "content marketing" is something of a buzzword amongst today's promotional teams, the reality is that this inbound marketing practice is both remarkably widespread and effective. To learn more about what content marketing is, how it can benefit your organization and how to get started using this technique to promote your company, check out the following infographic from Demand Metric "A Guide to Marketing Genius: Content Marketing".

This is one of the most powerful infographics that I have seen that makes the case for content. Scroll down to find out more about the power of well written articles.

This is an open secret that quality online and even print publications have known for many years - that classical advertising only works up to a point. Most consumers have reached a mental staturation level when it comes to print advertising.

Articles and well crafted, key message rich (not just SEO) content is capable of engaging the reader and building interest and brand loyalty, as well as promoting a call to action where appropriate.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Perhaps, but combine an interesting infographic or other type of image with captivating copy and you have a powerful instrument of engagement (and the distinct possibility of sharing across the social media landscape).

Nuff said.

The Power of Boredom for Content Creators

The Power of Boredom for Content Creators | Content Marketing Tips | Scoop.it
In today's Content Creator's Toolbox, we talk about an unusual ally in the drive to create great content: boredom.

If it’s been a while, you have some catching up to do. At least if you’re going to keep feeding the insatiable beast that is your content marketing program.

A few weeks ago I read an excellent post on ReadWrite called “The iPhone Killed My Creativity” by Brian S. Hall, and it really got me thinking about my own creative process.

Great piece from Rachel Parker of Resonance Content Marketing, and an important one. I also feel that the overload of access to information can impede ones ability to think creatively. Make sure you take your proper medicine of boredom.

How the bubble of Content Creation increases the value of Content Curation

How the bubble of Content Creation increases the value of Content Curation | Content Marketing Tips | Scoop.it

"My 2013 prediction warned of the continued fall in the value of online content which would lead to the production of ever more content as media companies tried to maintain ad revenues.

You can think of it as a towering tsunami of content, or as a massive bubble of content inflation.

Just as inflation devalues currencies, content inflation is devaluing content."

I think I do but I'm not sure of the connexion you make with content inflation/dilution?
Tagmotion's comment, March 3, 10:59 PM
If we look at content inflation through the lens of making money, it's clear that in terms of monetization through advertising, the internet is the first medium in history where ad inventory grows exponentially every year. Broadcasters are only making real money from iconic TV programs that attract big audiences on the web, for which advertisers will pay a premium to reach. Curating iconic programs - so that relevant segments show up as search results - turns content inflation on its head. Now you have content that's tagged, curated & discoverable at a granular level. And that specificity translates to more highly-targeted advertising which, of course, commands a premium.

Last year, Hubspot published Marketing Benchmarks form 7,000 Businesses. There is some incredibly convincing data contained in this report and much of it confirms that size matters. The more pages you have and the more you blog, the more traffic, leads and customers you generate from your website. According to this report, companies that blog 15 or more times per month get 5 times more traffic than companies that don’t blog. And companies that increase blogging from 3 – 5 times per month to 6 – 8 times per month double their leads. That sounds good to me!
