Creating Good User Experiences by Focusing on Content :: UXmatters

Creating Good User Experiences by Focusing on Content :: UXmatters | Content strategy and UX | Scoop.it
The more you can embed content strategy into every step of your design process, the better the user experience will be. It is essential both that content be useful and that its presentation be usable. After all, it’s the content that brings users to your Web site.
Alex McCardell's insight:
What's new under the sun? Nothing really, except this is a good resume of what we're doing with content strategy, to get to great UX. I'll quote here: "No matter how good the design and functionality of a Web site is, if the content is poor, the overall user experience will be disappointing." Surprised? Me neither.

Design Arrogance Starts with How We Treat One Another :: UXmatters

Design Arrogance Starts with How We Treat One Another :: UXmatters | Content strategy and UX | Scoop.it
Alex McCardell's insight:

This article exposes many of the difficulties companies have in defining UX from a competency point-of-view. From my angle within a web agency, UX can only be accomplished across multiple competencies. It is not the product of one person or one task. Maybe User Experience is everything. Or maybe Everything is user experience. The synergy among competencies in the end defines the success of the project.

Why Modern SEO Requires Almost No Technical Expertise

Why Modern SEO Requires Almost No Technical Expertise | Content strategy and UX | Scoop.it
There are five keys to scoring that ever-coveted spot at the top of Google search results.
Alex McCardell's insight:

I agree, "the happier your users are when they visit your site, the higher you’re going to rank." Obviously this (happiness) can be subjective, and google seems to be dictating what is good UX, but I did spot in this article the "Make your site aesthetically pleasing" which is finally starting to be recognized as an essential part of UX. It (UX) for web sites is not just about being good from a functional point-of-view, but also creating an emotionally positive experience.

The role of copywriting in UX and onboarding - GatherContent Blog

The role of copywriting in UX and onboarding - GatherContent Blog | Content strategy and UX | Scoop.it
Wherever you look online, there’s a lot of talk around UI/UX design. UX copywriting? Not so much. A quick search on a leading job site spat out almost 4,000 UX/UI designer vacancies compared with less than 50 for UX/UI copywriter. And most of those only came up because they were actually a vacancy for a …
Alex McCardell's insight:

Agree, UX is not only design and ergonomics, but so much more. Here's a look at "le rôle de rédacteur" for UX, with an eye for detail.

All You Need To Know About Customer Journey Mapping - Smashing Magazine

All You Need To Know About Customer Journey Mapping - Smashing Magazine | Content strategy and UX | Scoop.it
A customer journey map tells the story of the customer’s experience: from initial contact, through the process of engagement and into a long-term relationship. It may focus on a particular part of the story or give an overview of the entire experience. What it always does is identify key interactions that the customer has with the organization. It talks about the user’s feelings, motivations and questions for each of these touchpoints.
Alex McCardell's insight:

Paul Boag at it again, this time with insight on the usefulness of customer journey maps. Paul showcases fairly complex mapping, but even simple outlines of a customer journey can help inspire intuitive design for your customers.

The UX Psychologist | UX at Hello Erik

The UX Psychologist | UX at Hello Erik | Content strategy and UX | Scoop.it
Psychology and UX go hand in hand. One could even consider UX as a subset within the school of psychology. UX often talks about how it incorporates psychology, but what would a UX Psychologist actually bring?
Alex McCardell's insight:

Yep, naturally I'd say, UX is a psychological response helping to reach out to users' behavioral and cognitive stimuli. This is perhaps why UX spans across many different fields of interest.

Fight the dark side of Lean UX with the Experience Canvas

Fight the dark side of Lean UX with the Experience Canvas | Content strategy and UX | Scoop.it

The Experience Canvas is a framework for project teams of any size to ensure that the end result – whether it’s a minimum viable product (MVP), a new feature roll-out, even a process or other business initiative – is thorough, considered, user-centred and lean, without compromising on flexibility. The emphasis is on the experience to be achieved by that result; a minimum viable experience (MVE), if you will.

Design is like salt, it enhances the experience to something perhaps unforgettable (and that's always good for business).
