Google transformed advs and made them accesible to SME's. So low budget marketing departments can act more easily, even if they run their campain through agances.
Guillaume Decugis's comment, April 22, 2013 11:33 AM
@Jalp: good point and an essential reason that drove this change. Not just attention but lowering the barrier to entry. Thanks!
Kitty A. Smith's comment, May 6, 2013 2:37 PM
People are always looking to place fault. Things change when something better comes along. Just because newspapers were first doesn't mean they are best. Tobacco knows time is limited, that would explain why they bought Kraft Foods!

Confessions Of A $100/Month SEO Client

Confessions Of A $100/Month SEO Client | Content Marketing for Businesses | Scoop.it
Are you an agency trying to sell super cheap search marketing services to SMBs? If so, here’s some free market research! Last week, I got my kitchen counters resurfaced. Inevitably the service guy asked me what I did for a living.
Simply Friday's insight:

The most noteworthy thing about this article is that it exists at all.  It's a lovely insight into how the real world thinks about digital marketing - clearly very differently from those of us who work in it.  The best part is the comment stream as various SEO pros give their perspective.

A couple of big takeaways for me:

1/ Everybody's different; it's tempting to think that all small business owners think and work like this - but they don't.  Each one has their own strengths and weaknesses, insights and blind spots the trick consultants is learning well enough to understand where they are and then crafting an appropriate path to success.

2/ There's a lot of consultants and agencies bitching that $100 a month isn't enough to make it worth their while - or at the very least - scale and grow their businesses.  That just smacks of opportunity to me.
