Lean is about optimization of all the processes in any value stream.

It is about avoiding waste and reducing cost while increase value for the enduser. It is also about reducing cost.

4twenty2's curator insight, November 4, 2013 5:08 AM

Useful instructions here.  I have personally spent hours in google images trying  to find a picture for my blog, only to find that every one I choose has a fee attached.  Adding pictures to text makes it more compelling and enchances every "story"

5 pieces of social media advice that trapped me - Schaefer Marketing Solutions: We Help Businesses {grow}

5 pieces of social media advice that trapped me - Schaefer Marketing Solutions: We Help Businesses {grow} | Content Marketing for Businesses | Scoop.it
Just be yourself. Follow your passion. Adopt the latest social technology. Sound like familiar advice? It might be harming your business.
Simply Friday's insight:

Another one that reminds me of The Life of Brian:

"You've got to work it out for yourselves"

"Yes, We've got to work it out for ourselves!"

I have found over the years (as someone who is actually following their passion,) that these kind of advice nuggets are generally given by people who are not doing it themselves.  It's so much easier to talk about something than actually do it...

Joe G's curator insight, September 17, 2013 6:29 AM

A good read, the main point about all advice is that it is what it is, advice. This means that you have to evaluate it and asses if it has any value for you or your brand. Because when it is all said and done, your the one responsible for it.

SEO for Google+ Profiles, Pages, Local, Communities & Updates

Want to maximize your visibility in Google's search results? This Google+ SEO guide explains how to optimize your profile, page, local, communities, and even your updates for specific keywords to rank – as well as how Google handles outgoing links.
Simply Friday's insight:

I don't know about you but I'm finding I'm spending a little more time on Google+ than I used to - sure not a lot - but I suspect it is a trend that will continue.

The whole Facebook vs G+ thing will become more irrelevant as people work out that each network offers different content.  I might look at Facebook in the evening and catch up with friends and family but I'm more likely to look at G+ during the day and catch up with my interests.

If Facebook centers information around the person I'm finding that G+ centers information around the topic - and I like that - and yes - I like having both networks.

Email sign up forms: a look at how 16 fashion retailers collect customer data | Content Marketing for Businesses | Scoop.it
Email is a consistently effective method of driving sales, so having a large database of customer addresses is a powerful tool for ecommerce businesses.
Simply Friday's insight:

Fabulous article for anyone who's collecting email addresses on their site.  Interesting to me is how most of the sites are taking people away from the sign up page - i.e. - getting them to drop an email in - then go to a different page where they can add more information and promote a message - think I'll be playing with that...

Content Marketing, The Next Pyramid Scheme And How To Avoid Being A Sucker

Content Marketing, The Next Pyramid Scheme And How To Avoid Being A Sucker | Content Marketing for Businesses | Scoop.it
Despite the hype about content marketing, very few companies will see a return on their investment. A few smart moves, however, can improve their odds.
Simply Friday's insight:

Having written yesterday's newsletter on the reality of Facebook marketing:

http://simplyfriday.com/blog/you-dont-know-what-you-dont-know-about-facebook

this article is bang on point.  A lot of what I do is to get business owners to stop sharing what they know about business and getting them to focus on the unique aspects of their product and services; "Better to be valuable to 100 people than be irrelevant to 1,000" should be ingrained in most small business owners minds.  I also like his point on focusing on distribution which is often the hardest part of the whole process;  it involves investment in other people's content in order to build the relationships to share your content - most business owners struggle with that too.  Content marketing - it's easy... ;-p

Do Mommy Bloggers Matter? - Content On The Internet | Content Marketing for Businesses | Scoop.it
Mommy bloggers have been accepted as a must-have PR channel for marketing products, but are they really worth the effort to woo?
Simply Friday's insight:

I'm finding myself looking forward to the bi-weekly email from Stuntandgimmick - this is not a short read, nor is it really relevant to my audience of real world business owners - but there's an underlying construct here which should resonate with everyone:

Tell the F#@!ing truth!

You'd think Mommies of all people should be familiar with that one.

The only effective content strategy is one that gets to the bottom of who "You" truly are and demonstrates why what "You" have and do, is so compelling.
