A Smart Algorithm Looked at 16 Billion #Emails, And Here Is What It Learned #EmailMarketing | Email Marketing | Scoop.it

"When you respond to an email, you mirror the sender's email style.

A team of scientists from University of Southern California and Yahoo Labs used a machine learning algorithm to peer into the inboxes of 2 million Yahoo users. Over the course of a few months, the study participants sent 16 billion messages in total. Why #Healthcare Organizations Need To Deal With #Data Decay Starting Yesterday #EmailMarketing | Email Marketing | Scoop.it
[Original Source: HealthLink Dimensions, LLC Blog - http://bit.ly/1FcdaAO]The conversation around data is deceptively simple. Using terms like big data helps corral a massive amount of information into a more manageable terminology. But companies in the healthcare and life sciences communities need to face the facts. According to a study released by SINTEF, Scandinavia's largest research organization, on ScienceDaily, 90 percent of all the data in the world has been created during the past two years. In today’s world, where an estimated 216.6 million Americans are email users, which represents nearly 89% of total Internet users, it’s not enough to simply hit the inbox to run a successful email marketing program. Your recipients have to interact with your messages - they have to open and click around. Today’s reality demands that you center your marketing around the customer by orchestrating messages that are relevant to each individual’s preferences and behavior.

Keeping It Simple: "Five Ways to Master #Email #Deliverability" - Great Post via @GrahamMcEnroe at @veinteractive

"The key issue is “deliverability”, which refers to ensuring email messages are delivered to the inbox and aren’t bounced, blocked or rerouted by the spam filters - something which is an ongoing battle for marketers. Successful deliverability is determined by use of best practices, authentication and email reputation - all of which are features of successful re-engagement. So in essence, it’s like an approval score, the better your campaigns are, the higher your deliverability rates will rise. However, there are a number of technical processes to give your chances a further boost." - Continue Reading: http://bit.ly/1ECCPwP

7 Dos For Deliverability and Avoiding Email Spam Filters | Oracle Marketing Cloud | Email Marketing | Scoop.it

"How much time and money did you spend crafting that last email to promote your new product or service? I bet you checked and double-checked the content, the images and the links before you were ready to hit send. But hold on a second, even though you may have sent the next award-winning email, there’s something else you need to take into account; what does it actually take to get your email delivered into the inbox of your intended audience?

Did you know that according to a recent inbox placement benchmark report from Return Path, 1 in 6 commercial messages sent worldwide never make it to the inbox? Roughly 17% of messages go to junk folders or simply disappear. That’s crazy, right? Not if you take a step back and consider all the factors that go into a successful send. With the ever-changing ability for mailbox providers to filter your email, it’s important to understand the entire deliverability eco-system." CONTINUE READING: http://t.co/2PXbImFXNc ;

Justin Hipps, MBA's insight:

"In a case of spam filtering running amok, AOL more or less shut down access for more than 1,000 commercial emailers for three days in late March.

Beginning March 21, the gaffe affected a large number of commercial senders—including Chase, GAP, Netflix, Walmart, and Target—who had 70 to 85% of their emails sent to the spam folder.

The root cause, according to eDataSource's Arthur Sweetser, is that AOL released new code that contained a glitch. He was surprised, he adds, that upwards of 90% of brands were completely oblivious to the block." CONTINUE READING: http://www.dmnews.com/aol-glitch-wreaks-email-havoc/article/406977

A Designer’s Guide to #Email Analytics | via the team at @LitmusApp - Great Content! #EmailMarketing

A Designer’s Guide to #Email Analytics | via the team at @LitmusApp - Great Content! #EmailMarketing | Email Marketing | Scoop.it
Justin Hipps, MBA's insight:

"As an email designer we don’t have to tell you how important it is to get your design just right. Whether you’re responsible for the entire campaign or just focusing on the design, a poorly executed email can negatively impact trust, readability, and results. To make sure this doesn’t happen you’re testing every email before you send, but is that enough?

Using data to make design decisions is crucial to making your messages more effective. At The Email Design Conference, we heard many designers comment that getting access to open, click, and conversion data from their ESP (email service provider) was a challenge. However, if you’re already using Litmus, you may have access to key stats right inside your account.

Email Analytics can show you engagement, email client, geolocation, and forward and print data to help make key design and HTML build decisions, providing you with opportunities to surprise and delight your subscribers (not to mention increase conversions!).

Check out our short video above to see Email Analytics in action and gain actionable insights on how to use this data to better optimize your designs."
