Google transformed advs and made them accesible to SME's. So low budget marketing departments can act more easily, even if they run their campain through agances.

People are always looking to place fault. Things change when something better comes along. Just because newspapers were first doesn't mean they are best. Tobacco knows time is limited, that would explain why they bought Kraft Foods!

Summary: Reporting from DLD in Berlin Felix Salmon discusses how content curation will disrupt advertising-dependent media. These hope that curation will drive traffic to them. But viral stories take a life of their own, shared across many attractive platforms and read by people who will never visit the original creator -- depriving it of its advertising revenue.

 

My take: This definitely will happen. Curation will create a huge layer of derivative content that will outgrow the original content by a factor of at least 10. This is the "Content Inflation" idea I present in http://return-on-clicks.com/index.php/2011/08/facing-content-inflation/
