Ten Great Tools for Telling Stories With Pictures - A PDF Handout | Content Creation, Curation, Management | Scoop.it

If you are looking for some great tools that will provide inspiration for learners to write stories check out this post by Richard Byrne. He provides ten tools that you may find useful.

The first section has two tools that help learners create collages, CanvaPicCollage (Android and iPad app), and  PicMonkey (browser based). He also suggests using ThingLink as a tool for learners to enhance their collage (and links to a tutorial).

The second section looks at "threading images into stories." Thematic allows you to upload images and display up to twenty in a story with one line of text for each image. Storehouse is a free iPad app that allows you to use images and video and arrange them with a line of text above or below the image or video clip. Adobe Slate is a free iPad app that also allows you to create stories and has more features than Storehouse.

The final section looks at creating picture books and suggest My Storybook (web based), Picture Book Maker (web based) and Little Story Creator (free iPad app).

Each of these tools is described in more detail in the post. As this school year draws to a close your class might enjoy using one of these tools to create a story about what they have learned this year.

Why Mobile Is Content Marketing's Missing Link

Why Mobile Is Content Marketing's Missing Link | Content Creation, Curation, Management | Scoop.it

It's crucial for content marketers to think about smartphones and tablets, as the average amount of video we watch on mobile devices is expected to jump by nine minutes this year.

Brands are investing in original content, but could they be overlooking the ideal channel for distributing it?

The solution to creating a branded content experience that delivers results could lie in a centralized mobile content marketing strategy. By integrating content channels and reaching all consumer touch points, brands can maintain open access to content assets, encourage ongoing engagement, and build affinity.

According to comScore, smartphones and tablets accounted for 60 percent of time spent with digital media last year. Apps represented the majority of digital media consumption activity - some seven out of every eight minutes - thus surpassing desktop usage and mobile web browsing. Consumers' existing reliance on apps for utility content creates a perfect opportunity to expand content offerings to further strengthens the customer-company bond.

How Influencer Marketing Is Impacting Content #Infographic | Content Creation, Curation, Management | Scoop.it
Influencer marketing—a form of marketing which identifies individuals that have influence over potential buyers and plans marketing activities around them—is quickly becoming an essential tool within the communicator's toolkit. When compared with other, more intrusive (read: annoying) ways to get your brand or organization's message out, influencer marketing provides you with allies and context in your pursuit of your audience's attention.

Why The 'How-To' Boom In Content Marketing Is Still Growing

Why The 'How-To' Boom In Content Marketing Is Still Growing | Content Creation, Curation, Management | Scoop.it
Trends in content marketing often come and go, especially as rising volumes of competition flood the market with similar types of content and oversaturate their shared readership with variations on the same idea. Sensationalized titles have gone in cycles, with different headline tactics rising and fading in popularity, and different content mediums have similarly risen and faded in popular use.

One common content tactic, the “how-to” article—sometimes in image or video form—has been around for years, and its popularity shows no sign of losing momentum. More content creators are using how-to articles as a foundation for their strategy than ever before, and the market shows no signs of oversaturation. So what makes the “how-to” boom so enduringly popular?

Slideshare is the digital storytelling secret weapon

Slideshare is the digital storytelling secret weapon | Content Creation, Curation, Management | Scoop.it

In my estimation, the reason why more experienced social media marketers gravitate toward Slideshare is that they eventually recognize that social media is about actions, not eyeballs. The “reach” offered by the larger consumer-oriented platforms is seductive, but if only a tiny percentage of your fans are seeing your posts in those venues, is the reach really reliable?

Slideshare’s audience is bigger than you might think, is terrific for lead generation, and is populated by people actively seeking information and resources (not dissimilar from a search engine, in that regard).

And that audience is hungry for information. It’s not uncommon to generate significant views and downloads for Slideshare presentations, including 24,000+ and counting for my presentation on reliable reach....
