I haven't read this article but I knew right away, when I saw the title, that it was a valuable subject.  I think that if more business people knew who much curation helps their 'don't have time' problem, they'd really be enthusiastic about it.

There's a tendancy, I believe, among business owners to think that people who read their blog, or website (or any other content) expect it to be Pulitzer Prize quality.  I don't think that's true at all.  Nor do customers expect a LOT of content.  They just want to know what the business owner thinks and (in many cases) what they're 'up to'.

Curation makes it so easy for business owners to give them that info.

wanderingsalsero's curator insight, April 6, 2013 7:43 PM

Add curation in with mobile video and travel blogging and I think you've got a winning combination.

massimo facchinetti's insight:

How long does it take to plan, write and optimize a basic 750 word blog post article;  One hour four hours or more? For many, Content Curation can be an effective alternative to creating original content. It takes less time, less resources and still provides the SEO/SEM value of original content (if not more).

A New Era Of Digital Content: Engagement And Content Metrics That Matter

A New Era Of Digital Content: Engagement And Content Metrics That Matter | Content Creation, Curation, Management | Scoop.it
Since John Deere published The Furrow in 1895, content marketing has been right in front of the consumer eye. Fast-forward to the modern-day search marketing era, and content marketing has exploded. The key challenge for marketers, however, is finding ways to maximize the opportunity and win on the digital content marketing battleground.

It is estimated that by 2020, the digital universe will grow 300 times, from 130 exabytes to 40,000 exabytes. That is 40 trillion gigabytes. This incredible rate of growth will be largely fueled by digital content, search and social marketers. In fact, IBM found that as much as 90 percent of the world’s global data had been produced in just the past two years.

Are You Ready for the Future of Adaptive Content?

Are You Ready for the Future of Adaptive Content? | Content Creation, Curation, Management | Scoop.it
A startling 94% of companies claim that personalization is a key component of their success. Meanwhile, 56% of consumers would happily purchase from a company that provides a good – not even great – personalized experience.

Those kinds of statistics aren’t just impressive, they’re actually driving a new form of content development: adaptive content.

This idea is the new kid on the block. For the purpose of this post, we’ll look at it from a twofold perspective. Adaptive content is a combination of:

Using personalization to enhance the customer experience, and
Preparing content for delivery across multiple platforms.
These two facets of the term work together to create a complete, well-rounded experience. By implementing it in your content strategy, you’ll turbo-charge your ability to build awareness, trust and engagement with prospects and existing customers.

How Do You Rank on Google?

How Do You Rank on Google? | Content Creation, Curation, Management | Scoop.it

Google's algorithms are better-focused than ever, according to a new study from Searchmetrics. In its fourth annual Google ranking factors study, the enterprise platform looked at the top 30 search results for 10,000 keywords and 300,000 websites on Google. According to Marcus Tober, founder and chief technology officer at Searchmetrics, the findings simply confirm the current trends."Understanding user intention and creating unique, relevant content is more vital than ever before," Tober says. "It is also visible that backlinks are continuing to decrease in relevance. Looking ahead, as the proportion of search queries from mobile  devices continues to grow, it will be interesting to see what effect this has on the rankings."Some factors Searchmetrics saw positively affecting the rankings include mobile-friendliness; social signals, such as Facebook likes and Tweets; and backlinks, though the latter will likely decrease in importance. The study focuses on three other main areas...

8 Creative Ways to Enhance Your Content Marketing With Visuals

8 Creative Ways to Enhance Your Content Marketing With Visuals | Content Creation, Curation, Management | Scoop.it
On the web, there are few things more discouraging than a big block of text. That's because humans are visual creatures -- we tend to gravitate toward content that is pleasing to the eye, and we're especially drawn to visuals that capture (and keep) our attention.

It's no wonder that 70% of marketers planned to increase their use of visuals in their content marketing this year. Sometimes visuals are just a more effective and creative way to present information, data, or difficult-to-understand concepts. After all, they don't say "a picture is worth a thousand words" for nothing.

Adding visuals is not only a smart way to enhance the quality of your content -- but it's also proven to make your content marketing more effective.

In fact, tweets with images receive 18% more clicks and 150% more retweets, photo posts on Facebook brand pages account for 87% of total interactions, and in a recent study by Demand Gen Report, 86% of buyers expressed some level of desire to access interactive/visual content on demand. If you need even more convincing to incorporate visuals into your content marketing strategy, there are even more stats where those came from.

Four resources to mine for trending content ideas

Four resources to mine for trending content ideas | Content Creation, Curation, Management | Scoop.it

But there is a myriad of other trending topics that have nothing to do with celebrity slip-ups and break-ups – subjects that are actually relevant to your audience, in your field.  The tricky part for most writers is finding a relevant subject that’s trending. However, writing within the context of the trends can score a pretty high payoff for reader engagement, so it is worth making the effort. If you consistently touch on highly sought after or hotly debated subjects, the result will be a steady increase in traffic over time, and perhaps some drool-worthy peaks of sudden interest along the way.Aside from the obvious benefit of increased traffic and increased reader engagement, writing on trending topics adds to a writer’s credibility.  If you are writing on trending topics, obviously you are in the know....

The Beginner’s Guide to Technical SEO

The Beginner’s Guide to Technical SEO | Content Creation, Curation, Management | Scoop.it

Neil Patel: 'Technical SEO just refers to any SEO work that is done aside from the content.Essentially, it’s laying a strong foundation to give your content the best chance it can have to rank for relevant keywords and phrases.

Just like they have for on-page SEO, technical aspects of SEO have changed as search engines have become more sophisticated.

While there isn’t much you can do to “game” search engines from a technical standpoint, there are some new factors in 2015 that you need to consider if you want to improve your or your clients’ rankings.
