I supposed twitter can be used or any tool can be used for anything, but some tools are made with certain intended affordance by the creator that would make the tool less effective for certain functions. curation in a way is capturing things void of time (i probably drawing too much from museum), while twitter is fast pace timeline of interactive (or one way) discourse.... they seems to be inherently different.

i'm just automatically sceptical when 'one tool can be use for all' theme appear. but it is an interesting suggestion.
Bonnie Bracey Sutton's comment, June 11, 2013 9:33 PM
Many people learn one tool and then move on to others. I like to analyze each and use the best features of that particular 2.0 project. I use twitter as a push tool to share info for the most part.

46 Tools To Make Infographics In The Classroom

46 Tools To Make Infographics In The Classroom | Contemporary learning | Scoop.it

Infographics are interesting–a mash of (hopefully) easily-consumed visuals (so, symbols, shapes, and images) and added relevant character-based data (so, numbers, words, and brief sentences).

The learning application for them is clear, with many academic standards–including the Common Core standards–requiring teachers to use a variety of media forms, charts, and other data for both information reading as well as general fluency...

Las infografías son una herramienta muy útil por su factor visual: en poco espacio y de forma visulamente agradable y atrayente, engloba datos y relaciona conceptos.

Revising that might more clearly articulate the differences between physical and digital communities, so a decent definition of digital citizenship then might be “Self-monitored participation that reflects conscious interdependence with all (visible and less visible) community members”

Unfortunately we find that what happens the most, especially in schools is that educators and administrators tend to shy away from this responsibility and limit their teaching to the way they have been taught, thus excluding all the elements that are now pronouncing us as digital citizens in a society.
Sieg Holle's curator insight, May 10, 2013 12:15 PM

In the digital world we are human beings -free of the  many artificial restrictions and other special interest agendas and use our free will to engage our ideas and actions. It is natural - people can chose who they want to communicate with  It is a positive MOOC of that will expand the world into a new age of freedom and abundance .

EdCanvas is a web service which allows you to search, find, clip and collect any kind of content, from text to video clips and to organize it into visual boards for educational and learning purposes.

Differently than Pinterest, EdCanvas is specifically targeted at the education world and at schools and teachers, and it makes possible not just to collect "images" from web pages, but to collect and organize whichever content elements you want, including full web pages.

EdCanvas boards also offer the ability to easily reposition each item in the collection according to your preferences and it provides a number of pre-set layout options for displaying content in your boards.

The strongest feature for EdCanvas is an integrated search engine, which allows you to search for images, websites, video clips across Google, YouTube and Flickr, and lets you grab and drop any relevant result into anyone of your collections. Furthermore Edcanvas can connect directly to your Dropbox or Google Drive giving you access to all of your personal library files.

Try A Mystery Skype. Here's Why.

Try A Mystery Skype. Here's Why. | Contemporary learning | Scoop.it

If you’ve never tried a Mystery Skype with your class, you should. It’s a highly engaging way to build important competencies in your students. A Mystery Skype is just a simple guessing game at first sight, but it’s really so much more. Two classrooms arrange to connect with each other using Skype, and then take turns asking yes/no questions to try to discover each other’s exact location. It’s a great way to make an initial connection that may lead to further collaborative learning projects.

iLearn Technology » digital bloom’s taxonomy

iLearn Technology » digital bloom’s taxonomy | Contemporary learning | Scoop.it

I’ve long been a fan of Bloom’s Taxonomy…not necessarily for all the ways it has been pushed into different fads throughout the years, but instead for the way that it helps me (and my students) think about the learning process. It helps me approach the learning process in a more holistic way, ensuring that I don’t camp out in one way of thinking and evidencing learning for too long.

A few years ago, I created some different versions of Bloom’s Taxonomy for my students. I wanted them to really think about all the different ways that they can approach learning. You will notice that my images don’t have the traditional Bloom’s pyramid. That is intentional. Each of these ways of thinking is important in its own right.
