Who’s the Hero in Your Business?

Who’s the Hero in Your Business? | Productivity Tools | Scoop.it
Many businesses are mediocre because they don't have the slightest desire to be heroic. They just want to get through the day, collect the money, and carry on w

John M. Holland's insight:
I don't usually "rescoop" content, but this is a terrific comment by Karen Dietz. Do you want to differentiate yourself in a professional service or other service industry. Learn the principle that you should think of others. For goodness sake, they usually are--and that's how you aid them in their efforts. This fits Realtors and other real estate affiliates by definition. Why? Without the real estate consumer, we don't exist. The agent does not exist without the principal. In fact, the word principal says it all: at its' root it means "first". The fundamental duty of all agents (real estate or other) is to put their principal first. Think about it . . .

Hey John! Many thanks for the comment and additional insights. Glad this post struck a nerve :) No matter what the profession, I always encourage people to evoke a story first ("Tell me about a time when...") and then deeply listen to the story being told. This is the best way to build empathy and learn what it is like to walk a mile in your customer's shoes. Realtor's have tremendous opportunities here that will build long lasting relationships.

Don't we all know that feeling - and what are we doing about it to change this? If anything at all?

Apple reveals what's new in iOS 8, available for free this fall | Productivity Tools | Scoop.it

It doesn't look like the sort of quantum leap that iOS 7 was, but Apple's head honcho assures us that it interacts in some fantastic ways with the new version of OS X and that it pairs great end user features with great developer features. Well, we'll be the judges of that. The big keynote just wrapped up -- here's what we know and what it means for you.

Real Estate Agents: Is It Time To Create A Mobile App? | Productivity Tools | Scoop.it
John M. Holland's insight:

Mobile apps have a wide variety of handy tools and easy to use features that your clients will find beneficial. These include loan calculators, which can help you calculate mortgage payment costs no matter where you are, and so clients can review this information privately without scheduling a meeting.

You can also enable push notifications, which will alert clients as they travel to certain areas about local real estate they may be interested in. You can choose any location, and send all sorts of messages, including reminders, promotions, incentives, and more.

REALTORS: Managing your social media accounts can really reduce time and increase productivity. Here are some great management tools.
Rachael Johnston's curator insight, December 4, 2014 11:37 PM

I already knew about a few of these tools, including Hootsuite and Buffer, but several of these new tools seem very helpful.

I knew buffer was easy to use, but I am surprised it does not have any analytics. It is also not free forever. Buffer does not seem worth the price.

Everypost is an app that allows you to post to a bunch of different platforms. It also can automatically shorten text to 140 words for Twitter, although the text needs corrections. This could be useful for people who have difficulty fitting their comments into Twitter.

Spredfast seems like a really cool tool! It gathers a bunch of data from Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Flickr and gives you very useful analytics, including the best tweeting times.

Sprout Social, although expensive, seems very helpful. You can manage, post, monitor, and analyze multiple social media accounts from one location - kind of like Hootsuite. You can also search content, monitor private messages, and review analytics. The price is high though. $35-$99 per month! Seems a little steep considering you can get much of the same tools from Hootsuite.

Tweepi seems most interesting to me. I am not a huge fan of Twitter and this tool help organize things. It helps you determine who is following you, helps you flush unfollowers and follow new interesting tweets. Although I would like to try this, it is not free either.
