Smartphones are increasingly consumers’ first port of call to research a purchase, with over 44% of mobile owners using their devices to do so immediately after seeing a TV ad, according to IAB research.The trade body interviewed over 800 smartphone owners, along with GfK’s digital research team, to better understand smartphones’ role in consumer purchasing habits. The study also found that 78% of respondents researched a product on a PC and 54% via mobile. Also, 80% said they purchased items online, with 34% specifically transacting on mobile.
