The Texas Farms and Ranch Lands Conservation Program, created by the legislature in 2005, was meant to play a vital role in protecting agricultural lands, which are disappearing as a result of the recent population boom. A 2014 Texas A&M study found that the state was losing farm and ranch land at a faster rate than anywhere else in the country.

Texas State Water Plan

This API powers the interactive state water plan application. All methods are available via standard HTML requests and are CORS-enabled so that cross-browser requests can be made. All water volumes are given in units of acre-feet/year. Unless otherwise specified, all methods return JSON responses. This includes the following methods to retrieve raw and summary water planning information; Entities, Data and Places. The Texas Water Development Board provides data on sustainable and affordable water for Texas.
