Students use technology in most of the cases in a wrong way. For example, to cheat but exists some resources and tools that help teachers to promote honesty, some of them are: unplag that is able to recognize coincidences between students texts or homework and the place where was taken, this tool helps students to make a pre-check to look for unconscious similarities, ProctorU thanks to this tool, teachers can observed all students movements, what are they doing during tests, Google Scholar this resourse is so useful to find scholarly literature more appropriate for academic tasks without plagiarism.

Some great resources listed here. I would argue, though, the best way to combat cheating is create engaging assessments that students want to do and learn from.

It’s no longer enough for teachers to get a credential and then sit back and teach the same content year after year.

Richardson says to be part of modern learning, teachers need to actively educate themselves about the context students live in and how they can improve as educators.

“There’s never been a more amazing time to be a learner,” Richardson said. “How are we in education not running towards that in our own personal lives and embracing that?”

It’s not just about connecting on Twitter with other educators or asking for professional development about technology. If teachers are waiting for a planned PD about something they are probably already stuck. “You have to have the disposition of an eight-year old to find your own learning,” Richardson said.

TEACHER LEADERSHIP & DEEPER LEARNING FOR ALL STUDENTS

In this new paper commissioned by the Ford Foundation, Barnett Berry makes the case for how a system of teacher leadership and learning can fuel deeper learning for all students.

Here is what the paper tackles:

examines current reforms’ limitations and notes some promising emergent examples, (like Social Justice Humanitas Academy in LAUSD); summarizes 30 years of research about how teachers learn and lead (also drawing on stories of teachers CTQ has worked with since our founding in 1998); identifies three promising shifts that could be leveraged to create an effective system of teacher leadership and learning; and
describes next steps that stakeholders (including policymakers, USDOE, state education leaders, superintendents, and others) can take to advance teacher leadership toward a more equitable public education system.

The infographic below reveals 3 big changes we can leverage now to improve public education for all students.

Becoming Innovative: 15 New Ideas Every Teacher Should Try -

Becoming Innovative: 15 New Ideas Every Teacher Should Try - | K-12 Connected Learning | Scoop.it
What are the latest emerging trends in education?

As trends to do, these are changing almost yearly. Consider how quiet iPads in the classroom have been recently, whereas three years ago they were going to replace teachers and were (unsarcastically) compared to magic. While mobile devices like the iPad can indeed parallel a kind of magic in the learning process, it obviously has to ‘fit’ into a progressive supporting ecology of assessment, curriculum, and instruction.

With that in mind, we’ve created a list of 15 (the graphic plus 3 bonus items below) new ideas every teacher should try. Not all will fit or work–again, it depends on the ecology of the classroom, school, and so on. But each of these ideas below–some learning models, some concepts, and some technologies–can be transformational for students, and your teaching.

This really is a good little framework to use as a 'to do' list in future planning. The implicit message is that ICTs alone won't fix your problems, but combine them with innovative teaching approaches and unit structures and fit them to the 'ecology' of your school and class, and you will be getting close!
Hollie Brassington's curator insight, June 3, 6:51 AM
This is a fantastic summary of ways to transform learning - in fact the PBL and Skype examples in combination with the current hot topic in the news about the value and virtues of allrefugees (Karl Stefanovic on WIN Today show)  makes me think I could devise an English  Unit on refugees where students interact through  these digital pedagogical tools  with actual refugees now in Australia to find out their stories and to hear about racial prejudice towards 'boat people', and then write a letter to the editor type assessment dispelling the negativities towards refugees via an online newspaper or blog situation. These could be shared with actual refugees to show them they have the support of Australian citizens....
