In order to improve the interoperability of AV production and exploitation, the Eureka Celtic MediaMap project created a logical/physical media model that encapsulates the media, a production
intranet that interconnects different databases (internal and external) and a customization of the views within the system.
This middleware relays on four concepts: production and annotation ontology, a wrapper (USE: Unique Semantic Entity), a network (OSB: Open Semantic Bus interoperability with interoperability windows), and a personalized vision (VIEW).
In order to validate all of these concepts, RTBF decided to build proof of concept using all MediaMap mechanisms.
Perfect Memory has deployed a semantic environment (interconnecting 4 relational databases: Netia - Dalet - Tramontane audio and video) for the enrichment of publication, cross-media promotion and
services, and the indexing of content based on interoperability with archiving tools.
Memnon provided the analysis of sound (speech to text) in order to produce the elevation semantic enhancement of RTBF’s ingested content.
The “online” demonstration of this middleware highlight the following benefits:
- Interoperability between databases and unstructured content
- A designed robust architecture
- An enhanced and automatic enrichment at a minimum cost
- Traceability of media of treatments (rights, location)
