The Future of the Internet of Things [infographic]

The Future of the Internet of Things [infographic] | Enrjtk Educatr | Scoop.it

Ever wonder why Google is installing extreamly fast gigabit internet infrastructure when the average person needs 200x less speed? It is because of the future of the Internet of Things. In less than 10 years, the internet will not just be for your phone or laptop, everything will be online.

I’m talking about your car, fridge, tv, blender, air conditioner, front door, and even your wallet. This inevitable future is why google is starting today with affordable gigabit internet. This new wave of device overload will open up revenue and advertising streams to a whole new level.

Today’s infographic states that in 2020, every human being on earth will be connected to 10 separate devices.

I know I’m already using five and I bet one of the most prominent technology coming up soon will be wearable tech. If its for exercising, sports, general information or just making phone calls, wearable tech will be an exciting addition today’s digital arsenal.

One of the greatest misconceptions in education today is that certain teachers have a higher natural aptitude in technology than others.

This inspirational graphic sets out to disprove that notion and remind the audience that external skills are only a function of the internal dispositions that allowed them to grow.

Blended Learning: 10 Trends

Blended Learning: 10 Trends | Enrjtk Educatr | Scoop.it

There is mounting evidence that complementing or replacing lectures with student-centric, technology-enabled active learning strategies and learning guidance—rather than memorization and repetition—improves learning, supports knowledge retention, and raises achievement. These new student-centered blended learning methods inspire engagement, and are a way to connect with every student right where they are while supporting progress toward grade level standards.

Ivon Prefontaine's curator insight, March 27, 2014 1:20 PM

These are really not new, but they are always worth repeating. What is new is perhaps the intensity and frequency with which they happen. The cross-cultural awareness is certainly the case. What works for me culturally does not work for someone half-way around the world. In fact, it might not work here. Educators  need to be aware of that cross-cultural awareness.

Lena Leirdal's curator insight, August 30, 2014 6:36 AM

I love infographics! Learn - create - collaborate!

Right 'up the alley' when addressing 21st century skills. I find particularly the "learn"-part interesting: the need for skills to "access, evaluate and use different forms of information, exihbit fluency with tech tools, and exercise critical thinking". Definately a focus relevant for my master´s thesis.

Nichelle Plivelic's curator insight, February 20, 2014 5:59 PM

Some children on the autism spectrum lack an interest in teamwork, as they'd rather do things themselves in the way they want to. For this reason, it's important to show them-and other kids, not only those with special needs-why it's good to work as a team when with others.

Ways to do this include having them do activities in which it is easier to work as a team than an individual. Another way is to reward them for working together and providing reasons why teamwork is necessary.
