Tajikistan's American Corners provide free Internet access at 10 public computers and include a coordinator who arranges free English classes, educational advising, workshops and presentations, outreach to villages, documentary film screenings, and a robust program of online training and discussions. American Corner programs focus on serving youth, rural poor, women and girls, NGO and civil society leaders, journalists, entrepreneurs, English teachers, and local government leaders to help counter the threat of extremism. They reach more than 80,000 people each year.

In the week when China's Vice President Xi traveled to Iowa to visit his hosts from an exchange trip in 1985, one cannot underestimate its impact -- on the exchange participant as well as on his host and home communities -- and effectiveness.

ONE DROP Water project in Spanish, French or English | Connect All Schools | Scoop.it

ONE DROP provides a project for primary and secondary school students to take part in fun, educational and inspirational activities on water-related issues. This international platform will make learning tools, designed by ONE DROP, available free of charge to students and teachers in the ePals community, an online social network that reaches nearly 25 million teachers, parents and students from 200 countries.

 

ONE DROP will offer activities in French, English and Spanish.

 

“ONE DROP's mission, in addition to fighting poverty by promoting access to water for all, is to inform communities of the importance of taking care of water, an invaluable resource essential to life,” states ONE DROP’s Executive Director Lili-Anna Pereša. “Through its model of engaging relationships, the ePals Global Community is another innovative way of creating a forum on water-related issues while encouraging creativity.”

Over 115 Malaysian students who have never traveled abroad now have personal connections with peers across the world thanks to one inspiring teacher. Norlilawati binti Mohammed Noor teaches at a government-funded Islamic boarding school in Penang, Malaysia. The idea of connecting students began following Noor’s participation in the International Leaders in Education Program (ILEP) in May, 2011; after the program, Noor launched four different student diplomacy projects that have allowed her students to exchange letters and participate in Skype conversations with students in Arizona, Texas, Morocco, and Brazil.
