Thirty U.S. high school students and five U.S. educators will take part in the nine-month American Youth Leadership Program (AYLP), which runs from August 2012 – May 2013. The exchange to Bangladesh is a unique opportunity for youth and educators with an interest in cross-cultural affairs and climate change to explore these themes at home and abroad through pre-trip learning, one month of travel to Bangladesh (tentatively from Dec. 16, 2012- Jan. 11, 2013), and post-trip social action projects in home communities.

The portraits are then exhibited at their schools and on our website, and inviting students, teachers and community members into a global conversation about their place in the world. Through this process of statistically and visually bridging the local with the global, students develop an equalizing and expansive framework for seeing the people they share the planet's resources with and for activating their role as global citizens.

Challenge 20/20 is an Internet-based program that pairs classes at any grade level (K-12) from schools in the U.S. with their counterpart classes in schools in other countries. Together the teams (of two or three schools) tackle real global problems to find solutions that can be implemented at the local level, in their own communities. Any school -- public or private, NAIS member or nonmember, located anywhere in the world -- can participate. There is no fee to participate and no travel is required.
