Understanding Google's Updated Structured Data Guidelines | social for #food | Scoop.it
Last March, Google revised their Structured Data Policies.  While most changes were relatively straightforward and clear, a few were not.  In fact, some policy changes are still not obvious no matter how many times you read over the guidelines.  Fortunately, I was able to get some clarification on a few items recently during a meeting [...]

63% of people think generic brand messaging is ‘highly annoying’ | .rising | social for #food | Scoop.it

According to a new study by Marketo, consumers are fed up of the generic messages brands repeatedly blast at them.

The study, which surveyed 2,200 global consumers, found that a whopping 63% of respondents said they are highly annoyed by the way brands continue to blast out generic messaging repeatedly, and 78.6% of consumers say they will only engage with a brand’s coupon or offer if it directly relates to how they have interacted with brands previously.

Marketo found that the two things brands should do to make advertising more appealing to their audience were show ads less often, and make content more personalised and relevant based on consumer behavior across other channels and interactions....

On Facebook, people search for local business reviews, hours, deals and news.  They also search for interests.  Tip 1 "If you’re just starting out on Facebook, it will take time to get hundreds of reviews and likes. However, you can target a simpler keyword in your title and on your page (mention a few times) and still get some organic Facebook traffic to your page."  Tip 2: "Create a group or page in your niche around a popular interest, and rank for the main search term. Then, include a link in the page/group description back to your website, and periodically include links in your posts."

CEOs are finally embracing social. What does it mean to you? | Mark Schaefer

CEOs are finally embracing social. What does it mean to you? | Mark Schaefer | social for #food | Scoop.it

An analysis found that 80 percent of the CEOs of the world’s largest 50 companies are engaged online and on social media, more than double of what the same study found in 2010.

The findings are interesting because not long ago being social was once considered too risky, the article said. CEOs feared that saying the wrong thing online would ignite a firestorm of antagonists, dissatisfied customers, and disgruntled employees, who could threaten the company’s reputation. Now, having a digital strategy integrated across multiple channels is the new mandate to neutralize criticism. It’s become more important to transparently tell the company’s story and join the conversation.

Research  shows that five significant trends over the past five years have contributed to CEOs’ increased sociability....

Content Marketing in 2015: CMI's Benchmark Report

Content Marketing in 2015: CMI's Benchmark Report | social for #food | Scoop.it

For the past five years, the Content Marketing Institute has released a series of annual reports that delve into the aptly titled "Benchmarks, Budgets and Trends" of our blooming industry. The CMI works hard to monitor the field and understand its ever-changing parameters, consistently shifting their definition of content marketing and all it entails. This year’s interpretation?

"A strategic marketing approach focused on creating and distributing valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly defined audience—and, ultimately, to drive profitable customer action. In other words, content marketing is no longer merely about “creating and distributing,” it’s blossomed into a business in its own right.

As people-focused marketing takes over the industry, we’re starting to realize that the difference between B2C and B2B processes is becoming increasingly narrow....

The Future of Engagement Is Big Data Plus Big Emotion

The Future of Engagement Is Big Data Plus Big Emotion | social for #food | Scoop.it

in a marketing landscape fueled by technology and consumer-driven behavior, brands need to combine big data plus big emotion to engage with audiences.

The tech-led empowerment of customers will only grow as the "Internet of Things" connects everything to everyone, driving down the marginal cost of production and distribution, just as technology has done with the supply of information.

Emotional fulfillment, not technology, will be the standout offering of a winning brand. People like technology -- but people mostly really like other people. The more digital life gets, the more people will value being understood, touched and involved by other people. The brands that win will be real and personable -- whether it's a live person on screen, a physical store interaction or the mass intimacy of a stadium event, from football to rock....

Via Jeff Domansky
StrutturaFine | pl's insight:
