Graig Angarella's curator insight, April 27, 2014 12:49 PM

This article discussed the safety of social media for businesses, and some of the things we might not even think about that could be dangerous. For one, there are thousands of malicious mobile apps out there, designed to degrade the use of one's mobile device, or even obtain personal information from the user. It is important that when using social media, you make sure to download the "official" app of the desired network you wish to add. One other thing that the article pointed out that really stuck with me was the idea that negative advertising sticks with consumers a lot more than positive advertising for the most part. For example, if a company were to have their social media pages hacked, there is a vast of detrimental damage that could be done. The article pointed out an example of a tweet from Burger King saying they had been bought out by McDonald's. Though amusing, there are many other things that could be posted to hurt a company's reputation. Lastly, the social media era has gotten more and more employees in trouble over the years for posting things like negative information about the company they work for or their boss. Always keep in mind those individuals who might be reading what you post on the internet!
