One to One Initiative is helping a lot of kids in schools because they have the technology that they need in order for them to learn throughout the day. It also helps because we are in a new generation in which technology is the main thing that students need for them to learn; they need the technology and not have it limited to them.
The Cisco Foundation has gave out $15,000 in grant money to support the technology in the classroom so kids from k-8 grade can have the opportunity to use it in the classrooms. They have also gave grants to other companies so they could be able to use that money to get new technology for their needs.
Technology is reshaping the college experience. Learn about the technologies fostering the education of the "digital generation", from DeVry University.
Miguel Camarena's insight:
Some students prefer using technology for studying than using the books to help them study. They also prefer having classes online over having a professor/teacher helping them do something that they could learn through a program. 2/3 students use social media during class that helps them figure out how to do things during the class.
A sixth grade teacher has made it possible to have technology in a classroom so students would be able to use it and do work from school on it. With this new technology being put in the classroom its easier for the teachers to show and teach what students can watch.
Some people think its better if kids dont use that much technology at home because then its going to harm then in the future , but what they dont know is that it is going to help them in the future even if they limit the time that they spend using it
Miami Public Schools in Oklahoma prides itself on being an early adopter of technology, thanks to a leadership team that truly values the benefits of technology as they relate to education and the future of individualized learning. As educators, we have a responsibility for creating a positive learning environment where all students have the opportunity to achieve academic success and become productive, responsible citizens. As such, our goal was to build a technology infrastructure that would support this mission.
Miguel Camarena's insight:
Teachers think that this is no helpful for them because they're able to make lessons faster and are able to help students individually. Easier for students to bring in real time information while their at school trying to do things for their classwork, homework or project that may have to complete.
One parent thinks that it was a good idea that their school had made this decision on adding and lets kids brings their own devices. This generation relies more on the internet than ever before, they want the answers as quick as possible. Lessons will be taught through their devices; they had like a open house showing the parents how the students will taught with the computer and how it will be implemented.
Programs help students understand classwork better than most teachers teaching them how to do the work on their paper. For those students that are achieving higher levels of education, technology is a way for principals help those students take those classes online so they wont have to hire teachers they cant get.
