Many marketers feel the push towards social media in today’s day and age, but yet it is still looked down upon by other marketers who focus on more of the tradition outlets. Candice So explains 5 ways on how this push towards social media marketing can gain a little bit more respect. First, she recognizes the difficulty that investors have with pouring more money into a social media campaign. The fact is, is that there is no proof of their return on investment. However, many social media websites like Facebook and Twitter are creating tools for marketers to analyze how their campaigns affect their brands. So then points out the fact of life… nothing is free and if it is it probably is not worth the time. What does this mean for marketers? It is time to invest your cash into helpful sites and sit down and do some research. As marketers it is encouraged that we experiment and find a new strategy since social media marketing is so new there are endless possibilities. Even if you are marketing the No. 2 pencil there is always a way to connect to your audience and create a “buzz.” Lastly, social media is how this generation stays connected to other humans during their hectic days, so it is important to be human. Not only human but be unfiltered and engage your audience so they can relate to you and your brand on a personal level.

According to a recently published B2B Website Usability Report surveying buyers, social media and blogging have little influence on the B2B buying process.

 

Only six percent of the respondents claimed social media impacted their B2B purchases “a lot” and a meager 22 percent said they were interested in vendor blog content.

 

The study found that a lack of social media presence rarely impacted the B2B buying process, with 30 percent of respondents claiming it was important, but not a deal-breaker, and 37 percent saying social media wasn’t a factor.

It'd be a shock if it were the other way around. If your social's goal is to influence buyers, then there's a problem. Social is about distribution of content, about notification/ engaging, about customer service. It's a tool in the mix.
