5 ways social media marketing can earn more respect

5 ways social media marketing can earn more respect | Digital & Social Marketing | Scoop.it
Among marketing folk, social media marketing often gets a bad rap.

Savannah Perez's curator insight, Today, 8:49 PM
Many marketers feel the push towards social media in today’s day and age, but yet it is still looked down upon by other marketers who focus on more of the tradition outlets. Candice So explains 5 ways on how this push towards social media marketing can gain a little bit more respect. First, she recognizes the difficulty that investors have with pouring more money into a social media campaign. The fact is, is that there is no proof of their return on investment. However, many social media websites like Facebook and Twitter are creating tools for marketers to analyze how their campaigns affect their brands. So then points out the fact of life… nothing is free and if it is it probably is not worth the time. What does this mean for marketers? It is time to invest your cash into helpful sites and sit down and do some research. As marketers it is encouraged that we experiment and find a new strategy since social media marketing is so new there are endless possibilities. Even if you are marketing the No. 2 pencil there is always a way to connect to your audience and create a “buzz.” Lastly, social media is how this generation stays connected to other humans during their hectic days, so it is important to be human. Not only human but be unfiltered and engage your audience so they can relate to you and your brand on a personal level.

Report: Only 6% Of Buyers Claim Social Media Impacts B2B Buying Process - MarketingLand | #TheMarketingTechAlert | Digital & Social Marketing | Scoop.it

Basic/ Digest...

According to a recently published B2B Website Usability Report surveying buyers, social media and blogging have little influence on the B2B buying process.

Only six percent of the respondents claimed social media impacted their B2B purchases “a lot” and a meager 22 percent said they were interested in vendor blog content.

The study found that a lack of social media presence rarely impacted the B2B buying process, with 30 percent of respondents claiming it was important, but not a deal-breaker, and 37 percent saying social media wasn’t a factor.

It'd be a shock if it were the other way around. If your social's goal is to influence buyers, then there's a problem. Social is about distribution of content, about notification/ engaging, about customer service. It's a tool in the mix.

Austin Musgrove's curator insight, September 21, 1:13 PM

I have prior experience creating social media schedules and I agree that content curation is important for building and maintaining an audience of loyal followers. I also agree with the 9 tips for successful content curation.  However, I feel there should have been more emphasis on content being unique.  Content must be unique and compelling because it should stand out from the social media content of competitors. Curation efforts won't provide any benefit if the majority of content  is similar to competitors.

Juliet O'Connor's curator insight, Today, 10:02 AM

This article is about content curation. It proposes 9 tips for content curation because according to the article content curation is the most important part of social media marketing it is the "glue".

I think some of the tips are important yet some are obvious and not as helpful. The first is target audience which is very important when creating a website for any purpose. This tip also discuses market research which is also very important. A less important tip in my opinion is being consistent I think that if you have already targeted a market and done market research then the content should be consistent with what your topic is. I agree with most of the other tips all of them focusing on adding value and creating the perfect content for your website so that it does generate a lot of traffic. I think that this article relates to what we have been discussing in class about objectives and how to create a good website.

Link Building: How To Do It For A Brand New Website

Link Building: How To Do It For A Brand New Website | Digital & Social Marketing | Scoop.it

“Link building” as it is traditionally defined is fraught with risks, gray-hat techniques, and dangerous mistakes. Don’t approach link building in a let’s-build-some-links kind of way.

If you do, you’re headed for dangerous waters. Instead, consider link building as a byproduct of being a networker, a content marketer, a local expert, a personal brand, and a social animal.

Is Your Social Media Marketing Stagnant? Think About Instagram

Is Your Social Media Marketing Stagnant? Think About Instagram | Digital & Social Marketing | Scoop.it

Nick Lobasso's curator insight, Today, 12:32 PM

There are many different social media platforms out there, but which one is right for you?  Facebook used to be the leader in social media, but recently things have changed with numbers showing that “more than 3 million users in the 13-24 year old demographic have left Facebook” (Totka, 2014).  Instagram is becoming extremely popular social media platform that is definitely worth looking into if your social media marketing is struggling.  The Instagram platform is very similar to its counterparts Facebook and Twitter.  In 2013, brands began using Instagram such as Nike and Coca Cola, which resulted in an 80 percent growth.  Instagram is an easy way to interact with consumers by posting high quality pictures and using hashtags that are related to your brand or service.  This gets people engaged by using the hashtag so other people can follow along and see posts with that hashtag.  The more people that follow along with your hashtags, the more activity you will receive, which is what every business wants.  Instagram is an excellent social media platform to promote your brand, and it’s free!
