Reorganizing the social media landscape with the updated Conversation Prism

Reorganizing the social media landscape with the updated Conversation Prism | community manager: zusammenarbeit und vernetzung mit social media | Scoop.it

In a sign of the times, the Conversation Prism now includes sections dedicated towards the enterprise, which includes companies like YammerSalesforce ChatterSocialcast,Tibbr, and others. Also included are influence-based services like KloutKredTweetLevel, and PeerIndex; Quantified Self services including Nike+JawboneMyFitnessPal, andFitbit; Social marketplaces like ZaarlyGroupon99DesignsLivingSocialAirbnb, andEtsy; and service networking startups ElanceCrowdSpringoDesk, and TaskRabbit.

Solis, author of popular books such as  EngageThe End of Business As Usual, and What’s the Future of Business?, says:

The social landscape is evolving with increasing acceleration. As you can see throughout every iteration of the Prism, the number of networks that vanish and emerge is staggering. But more importantly, the nature and focus of how networks are used is also dramatic in its changes. In some cases, we see the move to smaller or more concentrated networks and at the same time the visual “social” web is becoming more pervasive.

Interestingly, the newest version of the Conversation Prism has seen 122 services such as Utterz, Xanga, and Kyte removed from the chart, with 111 new ones added. In the next two years, with the state of companies being acquired, dissolved, founded, it will be fascinating to see what the new social media landscape will look like.

Six Simple And Irresistible Alternatives To The Elevator Pitch - Forbes

Six Simple And Irresistible Alternatives To The Elevator Pitch - Forbes | community manager: zusammenarbeit und vernetzung mit social media | Scoop.it
Don’t just think of your pitch as a traditional 30-second sales promo you would use in an elevator ride. Think creatively and consider using a pitch alternative as defined by Daniel Pink to help you stand out in the competition.

...

The Pixar pitch. This technique is a way to organize your pitch in story form. According to Emma Coats, a former artist at Pixar Animation Studios, every Pixar film has the same narrative DNA:

Once upon a time____________.  Every day____________.  One day____________.  Because of that, ____________.  Because of that,_____________.  Until finally___________.

...

The twitter pitch. This is my personal favorite. I’ve been recommending this strategy since 2008 based on my observation that every Steve Jobs pitch for an Apple product easily fit within 140 characters (iPod: “1,000 songs in your pocket.” MacBook Air: “The world’s thinnest notebook.”) According to Pink, the Twitter pitch isn’t a replacement for a presentation, but rather an invitation to engage, to take the conversation further. “What’s your Twitter pitch for your new book?” I asked Pink. “We’re all in sales now, but sales isn’t what it used to be.”

Heiko Idensen's insight:

... try the twitter pitsch :-)

I love the idea of a really short pitch. As someone once said, if you can't describe it to an 8 year old in a few words, you don't understand it.

Forget Facebook: Google+ and Twitter are the social networks of 2013, says social media mogul Jon Morter | community manager: zusammenarbeit und vernetzung mit social media | Scoop.it

...While Morter's campaigns began on Twitter, changes in the social networks have altered his approach, with Facebook sidelined in favour of Twitter and the rising Google+.

"It's only going to get bigger," Morter says. "It was a slow start but I genuinely think Google+ is going to be one of the big players. It's so integrated with Google itself now and with their tie-in to YouTube it will get bigger. Unofficially, I believe the Google +1 button really does help your search engine optimisation on Google, I've got no doubts about that whatsoever, so for that side of things I think it's a vital tool."

Google announced in December last year that the number of active monthly users on the site had increased to 135 million. The network integrates with other Google products, such as search, gmail, calendar and drive, and all new gmail accounts are Google+ enabled....

Content Marketing via Flipboard 2.0 | PR-Blogger

How to Approach the Creation of Viral Marketing Content

How to Approach the Creation of Viral Marketing Content | community manager: zusammenarbeit und vernetzung mit social media | Scoop.it
Read through some insights on the art of going, based off of some of our own experiences trying to create viral videos.

...

Throughout all of these projects, we've made some mistakes and learned a ton about what it takes to make a great video. In general, making your own viral meme out of nothing is much harder than meme-jacking another trend (find out why, below). So if you want to get started, you should probably focus on the meme-jacking style of video for your first attempt. Here are some things to keep in mind.

Find a Unique Angle to Create "Combined Relevance"

In some of his research,

http://danzarrella.com/zombie-marketing-how-to-use-combined-relevance-to-go-viral.html

Dan Zarrella found that the number one reason people share things is because of personal or audience relevance. Think about the last time you posted a video on someone's wall. It probably wasn't just because it was funny or interesting or particularly well done, but because you thought the video was extremely relevant to that person. You watched it and thought "wow, <insert person> would love this!"

So if you want your video to be widely shared, it has to be relevant to a lot of people. One of the easiest ways to make your video relevant is to find some common idea, and combine it with a unique twist that surprises the audience and makes your content stand out among the rest. That's called "combined relevance."
