We talked about SEO in class and I think this article has great tips on how to accomplish ranking higher in Google results. Having a great title is really important when it comes to being ranked higher on Google. Obiviously the title tag needs to be short, this article says under 55 words and the keywords that you expect people to look up in order to find you need to be in the title. Using visual media also helps because its boosts the user-interaction signals that Google pays attention to. As stated before, mentioning keywords is crucial. The more keywords, the better.

Thanks To Malek

Guillaume Decugis's curator insight, November 17, 2014 8:35 PM

Understanding the progress you're making on social media can be rapidly overwhelming: not only are there chances you're on more than one social network but you're also likely to manage pages on top of profiles.

These tools are great and can help you track progress on a lot of KPI's.

Which is also why they're dangerous.

Don't get me wrong: I'm an analytical, data-driven guy so I'm a strong believer that data trumps opinions most of the time. But my point is that it's easy to get lost and confused by all the social KPI's you can track:

- followers

- retweets

- likes

- clicks

- favorites

- replies

- lists

- ....

You name it...

As Mark Schaefer put it - perhaps better than anyone else - social media engagement is not a strategy. It's only a path to building brand awareness or increasing leads and sales.

So while these tools are very useful, you still need to connect your social KPI's with ROI KPI's to demonstrate - or not - that your social media metrics' growth converts into something that has positive business returns

Very often, this will mean creating conversion hooks for your social media audience to become either a subscriber, a lead or a user - which is why you need a content hub for your social media publishing. Two trends are at work here:

1. Social Media Publishing and Content Marketing are more and more overlapping as social helps amplify content and content helps engage followers.

2. Social Selling and Inbound Marketing are driving more use of social media and more content publishing activity as a way to grow revenue.

So looking at these tools is a great opportunity to think about your overall goals and how to connect social media and content marketing in a coherent strategy to achieve ROI.

3 Reasons Your SEO & Social Media Teams Need to Cooperate | Community management | Scoop.it

Your social media and SEO teams may have misaligned goals: This is one of the more common problems.

The social media team may be goaled on driving traffic to the site, or on sales from that traffic. They may feel that using some of their social shares or tweets works at cross purposes to their goal.

This is often just a perception management problem.

Alexander Tate's curator insight, November 17, 2014 12:30 PM

I liked how this article discussed the issues that marketing teams face in the office. Aligning goals are always a difficult thing to coordinate between conflicting team members. Sourcing team members to align their perception is able to be done through effective incentives and team building activities. Discussing the issues and conflicts can generate both new perspectives and goals that can change and improve a campaign. It is desirable for managers to maintain constant communication in order to keep goals and expectations up to date to avoid conflicting members and perspectives. Unifying the team is always hard, but it is something crucial to being an effective marketing manager.

Sean Lorden's curator insight, November 17, 2014 8:55 PM

This article goes in depth about specific twitter metrics that someone should take into account, and track to ensure that you have a good profile that is engaging to users.  Understanding the language is key so that you can measure stuff you understand such as terminology, hashtags, and other things.  Also you need to take a step back in the sense that social media can be overwhelming with so much going on, and you need to consider your ultimate business objectives and what you are trying to achieve.   Finally, you need to pick the metrics that matter, and you should focus on key metrics that will make your profile more effective.  For example, if you use Twitter for brand awareness and visibility, then tracking followers, mentions, and clicks to the site will be more effective and useful than response time.  In order to maintain social media success, you always need to keep tracking and measuring metrics.

Rotem Banai's curator insight, November 13, 2014 12:15 PM

It is important to make sure your content is easily found and make viewers want to read. This article discusses 15 mistakes you can make with your content. 1. writing content that is too short. You dont want content that takes forever to read, but you need to have enough to get your point across. 2. Make sure your content is shareable. Make it content that people want to retweet or share the website on different platforms. 3. Make sure your content is grammar free! if your content has poor language and many grammatical errors the reader is not going to continue reading or share your content with anyone. 4.make sure you break up your content into paragraphs that are easily readable. Having page long paragraphs distracts the reader from wanting to read. 5.Dont just post stuff that is interesting for your company or industry. Write content that will engage the audience and peak their interests. 6.A reader can decide not to read your content just based off the Title. If you dont have a solid intriguing title a reader will not want to read what else you have to offer. 7.Milk all your content for what it is worth. 8. Write your content as if youre talking to one specific person, your ideal client. Do not write to a group because the reader will not feel connected to your content. 9. Make sure you write your content in a tone that your audience will understand and appreciate. If you write in the wrong tone your audience can get a wrong understanding. 10. It is important to keep changing up your style. Sticking to the same kind of stuff can become boring and stale. 11. when you post your content, post it on the platform you know will reach the most people in certain cities and locations. 12.  increase the opportunity for you to show up in organic searches, and use keywords. Become more visible to a larger audience. 13. Be careful with keywords and dont over do it. Too many key words will distract the reader. 14. Share your reach to promote others content and it will pay off when promoting your own. 15. It is important to understand your audience and the platform you share your information on.
