Siz.io is a free web app which allows you to collect your favorite video clips into thematic "shortlists".

Shortlists are organized into main categories ranging from News, to Animals, Games, Funny, Cinema, TV and more.

You can add video clips from YouTube, Vimeo, DailyMotion, Instagram, Vines and more by simply copying and pasting their URLs.

My comment: Good resource to find shortlists of curious, funny and entertaining videos. Easy-to-use. Feature request: play all clips in a shortlist as a back-to-back sequence.

Free to use.

Content Management Essentials: Strategy and Reuse | community how | Scoop.it

In many business sectors, marketing to people who are important to your business is all about teaching them and helping them to keep up with rapid change.

You're often dealing with a community of eager learners. Business content, to be useful, must be informative, not promotional. You receive the marketing benefit by just putting out great content that people consume.

What Does Your Facebook Status Say About Your Personality?

What Does Your Facebook Status Say About Your Personality? | community how | Scoop.it

A group of University of Pennsylvania researchers who analyzed the Facebook status updates of 75,000 volunteers have found an entirely different way to analyze human personality, according to a new study published in PLOS One. The volunteers completed a common personality questionnaire through a Facebook application and made their Facebook status updates available so that researchers could find linguistic patterns in the language.

Drawing from more than 700 million words, phrases, and topics, the researchers built computer models that predicted the individuals’ age, gender, and their responses on the personality questionnaires with surprising accuracy. The "open-vocabulary approach" of analyzing all words was shown to be equally predictive (and in some cases moreso) than traditional methods used by psychologists, such as self-reported surveys and questionnaires, that use a predetermined set of words to analyze.

Basically, it's big data meets psychology.

12 distinct social media personalities revealed including ‘Ranters’ and ‘Peacocks’ [infographic] | The Wall Blog | community how | Scoop.it

Do you like to strut your stuff when it comes to social media or do you have a tendency to get involved in protracted Twitter debates? Maybe you prefer to stay on the fringes?

Those are just some of the dozen distinct personalities revealed by a research project investigating the extent of the influence of social media in people’s lives.

The survey, conducted by online bank First Direct, found that social media, and the technology we use to access it, could be changing our personalities in quite fundamental ways as some of us exhibit traits very different on social networks to those that we have in the real world.

Dr David Giles, a reader in media psychology at Winchester University, who helped analyse the findings said that mobile devices in particularly have had a big impact not just on the amount of time we spend using social networks but on our personalities.

Printing the Human Body: How It Works and Where It Is Headed

Printing the Human Body: How It Works and Where It Is Headed | community how | Scoop.it

The rise of 3D printing has introduced one of the most ground-breaking technological feats happening right now. The most exciting part, though, doesn't have anything to do with printing electronics or fancy furniture, but in producing human tissues, otherwise known as bioprinting. While it is still in its infancy, the future of bioprinting looks very bright and will eventually result in some major advances for society, whilst also saving billions for the economy this is spent on research and development.

Peter Phillips's curator insight, November 27, 2013 10:55 AM

I can't see this saving money - but it will save lives. The technology to print exists. It is the question of how to develop stem cells into tissue types and then how to link these with the bodies complex control systems (nervous, circulatory and immune). in the best case scenario a grown organ will be recognised as self and the body systems will grow into them. However, organs are not toasters. Researchers are concentrating on easy things like skin grafts and ears at present, but like nano electronics, the future is full of potential and questions.
