Orientation Week Volunteers

Orientation Week Volunteers | CFNP North |

We are seeking students who would be available to volunteer some of their time to participate in one or more activities during semester 2 Orientation Week (8-12 July, 2013).   The  “Welcome Lounge” is a space where new students can talk to current students in a relaxed and informal setting and have tea/coffee and gather information resources.  This activity is good for students image from who don’t like talking in front of a large group, but enjoy socialising with students and making new students feel welcome.  The Welcome Lounge will be open on Monday 8th, Tuesday 9th and Thursday 11th July, with Thursday being the busiest day of Orientation Week here in Launceston.  If you’re not sure, why not put your name down for one hour to see if you like it.  All volunteer hours are officially acknowledged by the university, and is something that adds value on a Resume/CV.

University Experience Survey

University Experience Survey | CFNP North |

2012 University Experience Survey results are in!

The University Experience Survey (UES) is an annual survey of Australian higher education students that collects data on your university experiences. Your responses indicate what you consider important in a high quality university experience.

2,212 UTAS students completed the survey in 2012 and 82% of them feel that the quality of teaching is good or excellent. 76% rated their entire educational experience as good or excellent.

Your feedback showed that a key area for improvement across the university is the provision and quality of student spaces and common areas. More information on the 2012 UES results and a full report is available here.

Remember to check your inbox in July as 1st and 3rd year students will receive an invitation email to complete the 2013 UES. Don’t miss out on your opportunity to give us feedback which we consider important in improving our learning and teaching at UTAS.

Community Friends & Networks Programme (CFNP)

Community Friends & Networks Programme (CFNP) | CFNP North |

The Community Friends & Networks Programme (CFNP) was a new initiative at the University of Tasmania. In October 2008, the Business Faculty, International Services and Student Services commenced the Community Friendship Pilot Programme. The Community Friends & Networks Programme was launched in November 2009 and continues to expand on the success of this initiative.

The programme seeks to support UTAS students to experience the real Tasmania during their stay, or as they build a permanent new life in the State. Those welcome to participate include international students, students newly arrived on a humanitarian visa, migrants, students from other parts of Australia, and students from regional Tasmania. CFNP is statewide and coordinated out of Launceston and Hobart.

The CFNP is also exploring other possibilities of expanding students’ horizons by developing networks through participation in volunteer programs, work experience and other activities.

Currently enrolled students can follow us via the Facebook page and automatically receive invitations to activities and events on campus and in Launceston. To find us search for UTAS CFNP North.

For information regarding CFNP North please email or call 6324 3566.
