At STEM Village, we love finding the best STEM education resources available and sharing them in our Science, Math, Technology, and Discovery units. This week, we celebrated National Engineers Week across North America, so we shared our favourite engineering resources all week on our Twitter and Facebook feeds! Engineering education intersects so many wonderful STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) topics – from physics, to robotics, to biology and chemistry, and even software design! Engineering also teaches students to think deeply, make connections, and become the future problem-solvers we need to develop in our future generations. Another purpose of this mission is a “technology demonstration” and that's where the optical communications come in.

The birth of optical links from space to earth and back will mean the ability to transfer massive amounts of data and that too with very high efficiency. The current satellite links and Inter-satellite communication will become highly efficient and UWB communication & data distribution & usage in every home.

Design should be the basis of Engineering education and bringing in the design focus makes the students understand what problem solving is, what knowledge application within the bounds of constraints is and finally what is meant by the trade off to make an optimal decision. Many of us in the technical education must use the science and philosophy of design to make students learn what engineering is about. Engineers must be creative and generate products & services that benefits humanity and makes life more enjoyable for all but not at the cost of environment as that places the burden of my today's solution on the children's of tomorrow.

Telecommunication today can transfer ideas, text, images, videos and anything that is on paper or can be digitized and converted into bits. Here this teleport will allow now the transfer of even matter in the long run and that will be a very giant step for human civilization. Transfering matter with the speed of light across continents, planets and galaxies would be the obvious future direction to come.
