Building more inclusive housing for adults with disabilities, makes perfect sense. Research has proven that community-based service options are cheaper and more efficient. A lot of people within our society need to open their hearts, adjust their views about individuals with disabilities, and embrace it as a unique part of diversity.

I believe in housing dedicated to those with developmental disabilities with as much community inclusion as possible. However, there will be a growing need for increased services, depending upon their needs, as they age, and, possibly, less inclusion. The movement to “inclusion” reduces these possibilities, if one needs Medicaid funding for support services. These specific services should be in place, so states like Georgia can support the needs of these individuals.
