Faheema Mehter's insight:

Another good article. Emotional advertising influences consumer behaviour in many ways. Emotions are a key driver in consumer purchasing behaviour. It is very important for a brand to trigger emotions so that consumers are pushed to buy. Once a brand has succeeded in emotionally connecting with consumers, those consumers are likely to stay with that brand for an extended amount of time.

I agree with you here Faheem. Emotions are such a big thing and are something that can determine if someone if interested in a product or not. They way they engage you through marketing a product can totally change your view on it and has the potential to draw customers in, or simply throw them off.

I agree with you both. The main objective of brands is to create changes in consumer behavior. To do this effectively you need to create an emotional response from consumers through your marketing strategies.

Faheema Mehter's insight:

This article really grabbed my attention from the moment i started reading it. I couldn't agree more with the example it starts off with. Reflecting on my own purchasing decisions, I can now understand how I react to advertisements. I completely agree with the article that we humans are not designed to listen to reasoning, instead, we are wired for emotional response. Personally, I find radio advertisements very boring and often can't stand listening to them, however, i enjoy watching visual advertisments and often try out a product for the simple reason that I liked the advertisement. The techniques and tactics covered in this article are quite useful and it goes to show that emotion is a key factor when communicating with consumers.

I agree Faheema! Watching something on tv is so much more interesting than hearing it on the radio. Its much more entertaining to put an image to a sound, rather than just listening to something. If an advertisement is persuasive enough, i am more than likely to give in and buy a product or service.

I agree, images and sounds are more likely to grab the attention of the consumer because it is stimulating and creates and emotional response. This is why social media outlets like Instagram are far more effective at marketing a brand because consumers are attracted to the images and videos.
