One of the best strategies to teach writing is to integrate art into it. You can for instance get students to work on drawing something and after discussing each one's drawings you can then ask them to use their own drawings to write a story. Another strategy is to use technology. There are now several free web tools that can help students get started on their stories.
This is a great article that I can relate to. I am the only one in my planning group for my grade and subject that has 1:1, making planning very difficult. When 1:1 you need to look at planning in a completely different way. Thanks.
