Storytelling and Content Strategy

Storytelling and Content Strategy | common core education | Scoop.it
How to use two basic plots to define your business’ content strategy, while keeping the customer as the hero of the story.

I love this article! It puts anyone's content strategy into a fabulous storytelling context, and gives all of us a way to think about our websites from a narrative perspective.

The ideas here are very helpful and fun to play with. The author, Kat French, did a good job.

Using The Quest story format, you can easily share your customers stories.

Using The Boy Meets Girl format, you can evaluate your website and tell/share your biz stories much better.

The other blog post links at the end of the article look worthy of exploration also.

So go enjoy this delightful -- and helpful -- piece!

Infographics and the Common Core

Infographics and the Common Core | common core education | Scoop.it

Infographics have recently become a popular way to communicate information visually both in print and online. This resource offers many strategies, examples and tools for using and creating infographics.

Although this website offers suggestions for Science and Technical Subjects, infographics are also very well suited for Social Studies.

Besides teaching literacy standards 5 and 7 in History, Social Studies and Technical Subjects, integrate NETS (National Educational Technology Standards) (#3) to teach students to use digital tools to gather, evaluate and use information.

One of the two consortia working on online versions of high-stakes tests has released its first set of exam item prototypes; and if these samples reflect the direction of the full array of next-generation assessments in language arts and math, students can mostly kiss the standard multiple-choice bubble question goodbye.

Production versions of the new exams are scheduled to be administered for the first time in 2014-2015.

On Common Core | Cultivating Collaboration | Where to find quality non-fiction

On Common Core | Cultivating Collaboration | Where to find quality non-fiction | common core education | Scoop.it

In the spirit of collaboration, the authors of this article have put together a list of how to select best non-fiction texts and where they can be found.  One of the best places for collaboration to begin is around the topic of quality nonfiction. Common Core's expectation is that 50 percent of elementary grade reading is in informational texts; at the high school level, the percentage increases to 70 percent. That’s a challenge, but it also offers educators an opportunity to launch a conversation in their school communities. Begin with these two essential questions: What is quality nonfiction? Where can I find it?

Visual Storytelling for Marketers |

Visual Storytelling for Marketers | | common core education | Scoop.it
Humans have been telling stories with pictures since the days of cave paintings, so we should be pretty good at it by now.

All right, want to increase your business? Then translate your business stories into videos.

I know I know, who's got the time and which is the best tool to use? Most of the stories I share with my clients happens in the board room. When I think of taking some of my business stories and creating a video or two to share on my website, I get just completely overwhelmed.

But this infographic drives home the necessity of creating these videos so that your stories can do your marketing for you. For example, for those of you who have products 85% of customers are likely to purchase a product after watching a video on your website about it. Wow!

For service businesses, 65% of the C-suite or top senior executives of the company will continue to research you after viewing one of your videos. Wow again!

There are quite a number of articles in this curated collection about tools and strategies for creating effective digital stories. So dig in, learn lots, and work creating these videos into your schedule. And I'll work hard on trying to take my own advice!

In the meantime, check out the rest of the infographic and see what other gems you can find.
