A thought worth considering: If we taught reading and writing to every student in every classroom every day, regardless of the content area, we could witness a dramatic positive effect on student achievement.

Wow! Don't know how to respond when teachers say "It's not MY job" regarding literacy skills? Need a professional, well thought out answer to why taking higher levels of math in high school helps achievement in general? It's in here-- and so is everything else you wanted to know about Common Core.

We are piloting Common Core resources with elementary students at my school. We are realizing the challenges of working without textbooks - how much teachers need to know about lesson design along with assessment for and of learning.
