If you're a shopper of GAP brands, you will be familiar with the work of their respective Digital Marketing teams.  To drive online sales the GAP group use a heavy mix of rewards and offers to entice the buyer to pull the trigger.  The question is, when does it become too much, are they in danger of creating their own ‘blue light’ sale syndrome, where buying behavior directly correlates with shoppers only purchasing with a discount code?

In time and with the right commerce engine the GAP brands online campaigns should evolve from mass marketing tactical offers to more strategic personal ‘my price’ reward program that drive loyalty and traffic to both the website and the stores.
