Travel Global, Think Local is a new documentary travel series which tells powerful stories of extraordinary people in incredible places. The series is an innovative and engaging format of travel programming which documents compelling community projects through dramatic storytelling. The series kicks off in Northern Queensland, Australia to document the challenges faced by the Bama - a community of Australian Aboriginals who are struggling to provide meaningful local employment and sustain their traditions and culture. The Australasian cruise market has never looked better, according to cruise industry experts speaking at the recent Cruise3sixty conference. According to CLIA's chairman, Australasia is the largest shared gainer of cruising in the world, with 12% of the world's cruising. The incredible growth in cruising has been inspired by China and Australia, with 80% of Australia's cruising coming out of Brisbane and Sydney. Princess Cruises' VP for Australia and New Zealand has announced that both year-round and seasonal fleets in the company will soon move to onboard Australian currency due to the strength of the Australian market. The Emerging Consumer Survey 2015 by Credit Suisse tracks nine key emerging countries: Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and South Africa. Within the past five years, there has been a nearly 20% growth in propensity to holiday within emerging markets. This has partially been fuelled by the resurgence of the global economy. The aspirations of consumers in emerging markets continues to grow, with Brazil leading the pack by more than double. Consumers in Brazil are often geared to take shopping trips, particularly to close-in locations such as Miami, which drives a significant amount of travel spend into North America. China, India and Indonesia are quite mobile, with around 5% of consumers in those countries planning to holiday in the next 12 months. While it may seem that emerging markets are not as suited to technology-enabled travel, these regions are enjoying significant smartphone penetration.
