Good examples of how to further develop your story and engage your audience by using well thought out images.

A favourite exercise of mine is to share an image and ask others what story they see in it.  No two interpretations are ever the same.

These tips are applicable to any organization.  Video is a great solution when you can't get staff all in the spot at the same time.  Especially if you have a larger workforce or staff that are spread out geographically or on the front line.

Having dedicated videographer services is helpful if not necessary. They can respond quickly, produce professional products, and can be a resource for staff.

Trisha Poole's curator insight, October 23, 2014 9:52 PM

Take all advice with a hint of caution: It is possible to take effective notes using a laptop, *if* you have the digital literacy skills to understand how to do it effectively. A common problem that arises when using laptops (or other digital devices) to take notes is that people forget to summarise what they hear and try to write things verbatim. When writing notes by hand, people are more likely to summarise and collate ideas rather than write verbatim. Digital literacy skills are important in this context, and it's also important to know that some articles might not be fully informed.

What I like about using Twitter (or Facebook or any other popular SoMe platform) is that you don't have to worry about managing the software side of things in-house.

I've bantered around the thoughts on whether Twitter should be public or private. If you make it public, why would you make a seperate Twitter account?  Couldn't you encourage staff to participate in your main channel?  It would seem to me it would be confusing to the public if you have multiple Twitter accounts.  I do like the idea of a private account especially if it's the main platform you're going to use to engage your employees and you're just venturing into SoMe.

Before I decided, I would poll staff and ask them what their comfort level would be (would they be scared off) if the stream was public.
