Facts About Color Blindness | National Eye Institute

Facts About Color Blindness | National Eye Institute | Color, Vision, and Art | Scoop.it
National Eye Institute, NIH, is dedicated to vision research that saves sight & reduces visual impairment & blindness.
Grace W. Ho's insight:
When we live in times when people migrate in and out of continental ancestries, how useful is it for researchers/scientists/doctors (and people in general) to consider NEI/NIH "fact" about "Who gets color blindness? ...As many as 8 percent of men and 0.5 percent of women with Northern European ancestry have the common form of red-green color blindness."

It's time for all of us to re-think how we see our ever changing world in new, more open-minded ways.

For One Artist, Colorblindness Opened Up A World Of Black And White - NPR | Color, Vision, and Art | Scoop.it
After his diagnosis, Peter Milton wasn't about to abandon art; but he did feel he had to abandon color. Today he says he finds black and white to be "fully more elegant than color."
Grace W. Ho's insight:

From the article, "Colorblindness isn't that uncommon — about 1 in 10 men has some form of it — but Milton was a painter. He studied art at Yale under Josef Albers, who wrote the book on color. Literally. It's called Interaction of Color."
