Colombia was origionaly owned by england but Colombia declared independance in 1810, and officially gained independance at the Battle of Bogata in 1819. Colombia was founded around 1510 by the spainiards with Darien being the first european settlement. The peso was declared the official currency of Colombia in 1810

The main religion in colombia is catholicism. It was the official religion of the country since the Spanish colonization until the 1991 constitutional reform, which granted the country the ability to have religious freedom however catholicism is still the main religion. 81% Roman catholic, 13.5% protestants, 1.9% No religious beliefs, 2.3% Jewish, 3.6% Other faiths.

Thier most current president is Juan Miguel Santos. He was born on August 10, 1951 at a current age of 61 years. He is part of the Social National Unity Party and his term started in August, 7 2010. He attended a private shool in bogta most of his life until he graduated in 1961,then continued in the Colombian Navy until 1971, earning a B.A. and finishing as Naval Cadet NA-42 139.

Red represents the blood spilled on the battlegrounds by the heroes who gained Colombia's freedom. Other beliefs in the meanings of the colors are yellow, for the sun and land of the people. Blue, for the water that holds up the people and red, for the blood shed by the people who fought for the independence of Colombia.

It is arguably the national dish of Colombia.

The main currency in Colombia is called the Peso. The peso is equal to 0.00055 of the U.S dollar. Thier "change" is called a centavo. You would get 1823 pesos for one U.S dollar which could be used for a fresh-squeezed, pure fruit juice (at least 10 fruits to choose from) and a bus ride into the Centro Historico for sightseeing in Quito.

Colombia is the third most population in the world with the most recent cencus taken in 2008 with a population of around 46 million. The racial demographics are 58% Mestizo, 20% European decent, 14% mixed African and Eurpoean decent and, 4% primarily african decent. Thier capital of Bogta has the highest population of 7.571.345 which is almost 3 million over the second place of Medellin.
