Applying for, participating in, and completing a summer internship as a high school student will give you the confidence and the skills you need to understand for the adult world. You can explore a wide variety of career options including marketing, design, nursing, accounting, or chemical engineer. It will propel you into the world of job searching. And it will help you write a efficient resume which will potentially help you find your first job after college graduation.

For high school students, choosing potential internships, going through the internship application process, and completing a summer internships program offer valuable decision-making lessons. A summer internship can serve as a trial period that helps you finalize a decision you've already made about what you want to do in the future or it can open doors so you can make some career decisions.

Cruise Line Class's curator insight, September 6, 2013 2:52 PM

I read this yesterday, and thought it was a nice acronomy for anyone regardless of their goals and their career aspirations.

Once you set clear goals, identify the obstacles,  take consistent action, and stay on track -- success is within your reach.  Once you believe in the vision and your potential, you only need to show yourself that you can do it.

It shouldn't matter what your goal is....Success is doing what you love and loving what you do.  Whether you are a stay at home mom in charge of managing the household or a CEO.

Make it a great day!!

The things said in this video are very very important things to know. Life changing things that can make you a better person and make make you find the right career that you will love. I have always felt as if I needed to be a nurse, because nursing was big in my family, but for me nursing was very boring. and i could not stand to be in a hospital or around sick people, and even though i choose to go to school for hospitality management mentally i still think about being a nurse and how great it will make my mother feel. But after this video i no longer feel bad for wanting to work in a career that best suites me.

My thoughts:

This is a very helpful guide! We know that filling out the FAFSA is important but what we are supposed to do afterwards, is rather mystireous. In this article we learn that we may modify our current FAFSA should we see any problems with it. We can also make sure the amount of funding we are recieving is adequate.

Fastweb: College Scholarship matcher

Fastweb: College Scholarship matcher | College and Careers | Scoop.it

"Search for scholarships with our free scholarship matching service, get student financial aid and find money to pay for college at Fastweb." This website matched me with tons of scholarships after filling out a bio about me and my achievements in highschool. THis website specifically matched me up to the following scholarships I actually applied for: Alert Scholarship, Prowler No Essay Scholarship, and the Burger King Scholarship. This website helped alot.

My thoughts: With a name like "Fastweb" I automatically assumed this website was a scam. It turns out it's not! The only downside to Fastweb is that you have to make an account. By giving Fastweb information that follows internet safety guidlines, it will match you up with scholarships that you already qualify for. Fastweb is a definite time saver.

Jewel Graham's curator insight, January 5, 2014 10:32 PM

This I scooped from a past senior student and I found this scholarsip website easy and accessible. I found several scholarships on here that I've heard of or have already done.

mitch fajardo's curator insight, November 12, 2014 4:52 PM

Fastweb is easy to use which made finding 2 scholarships easy. That said, others should use it because the popular scholarships are definitely worth filling out. Websites like this, in my opinion, are needed because the more convenient it is for students to fill out the scholarships, the more they will fill out, therefore, adding positivity towards their education and future.

3 Pre-Interview Confidence Boosters

These symptoms of nervousness can seriously sabotage a job interview, no matter how prepared and qualified you are.

Cruise Line Class's curator insight, August 25, 2013 12:28 PM

It is natural and normal to have a bit of the jitters before an interview.  Take a quick read on a few tips to squash the nerves.

My personal advice:

1.  Do your homework on the company, on the position, on the interviewer, and on why the company shoudl hire you.  The more preparation, the more likely it is that you will feel more confident.  The confidence will help you to connect more, and be your best you.

2. Avoid drinking caffeine before the interview.  Studies show that Caffeine will magnify, and could potentially distort your nerves.

3.  Know that jitters is really energy, and all you have to do is channel the energy.

4.  Practice answering questions with friends and family.  Record some of your responses, and listen to how you sound.  The chances are you are going to sound a lot less nervous than you thought you sounded.  Doing this will help to calm you.

I hope that these suggestions help.  Make it a great day!
