Interim Assessments | Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium

Interim Assessments | Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium | college and career ready | Scoop.it

The Smarter Balanced interim assessments allow teachers to check student progress throughout the year, giving them actionable information to inform instruction and help students meet the challenge of college- and career-ready standards.

The interim assessments are one of the three major components of the Smarter Balanced Assessment System—along with the end-of-year summative assessments in English language arts/literacy and mathematics and a Digital Library of formative assessment tools and practices that supports classroom instruction.

Teachers can use the interim assessments throughout the year to gauge student progress toward mastery of the skills measured by the summative assessment and to assess targeted concepts at strategic points during the school year.

Getting Your School Tech Ready for Common Core Assessments -- THE Journal

Getting Your School Tech Ready for Common Core Assessments -- THE Journal | college and career ready | Scoop.it
Schools have about 15 months to prepare for the online assessments that reflect the learning goals of the Common Core State Standards. Some districts already know what the transition will be like.

That's an alluring benefit for technology leaders in states that are participating in the online assessments: By adhering to that 2014-2015 online testing deadline, all of those schools will presumably be better outfitted for digitally supported instructional practices.

Tools & Resources for SBAC Field Test Preparation

Tools & Resources for SBAC Field Test Preparation | college and career ready | Scoop.it

Students in grades 3-11 will be field testing the new computer-based assessments that are part of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). California has partnered with 23 states in the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) to develop measures that will help educators, students, parents, and communities gauge learning progress in relation to the Common Core Standards.

The 2014 Field Test allows schools to “try out the tests.” Students will have hands-on experience with the functionality of computer-based assessments, while teachers and administrators will gain valuable exposure to administration logistics during the trial run. School districts will benefit from learning where technology gaps may exist, so they can fully prepare for the operational assessments scheduled for Spring 2015. No student, school, or district score reports will be produced. Results will not be factored into any state or federal accountability calculations.
