Historical Tornado Data Visualized

Historical Tornado Data Visualized | Collection of First in the World Wide Web | Scoop.it

This strangely beautiful map shows every tornado to hit the U.S. between 1950 and 2011.  What physical geographic factors lead to this distribution?  What are the impacts of this data on human geography?

Def in agreement with John I'm wondering myself as to what the cause of the hole is. Id speculate it is due to some sort of terrain issues. maybe even man made structures.
melissa stjean's comment, September 4, 2012 12:00 PM
the physical geographic factors that lead to the the distribution of tornadoes in the US is because the jet stream coming from the west and hot air from the Gulf of Mexio air both crashing together. This mostly happens in the Midwestern part of the country. Though there are times when supercell thunderstorms pop up in different parts of the country and can form tornadoes, such as the southern part of the US. The impacts of this data on human geography are can range from little damage to catastrophic causing billions of dollars in damage.

Issho Genki Squalene — Issho Genki Squalene: The World's Best Squalene

Issho Genki Squalene — Issho Genki Squalene: The World's Best Squalene | Collection of First in the World Wide Web | Scoop.it

The bodies of humans have squalene, which is a primary ingredient in many products for skin care. It is 10% sebum, a kind of lubricant present on the sebaceous gland of the body, functioning mainly to protect skin and keep it as elastic and supple as possible. However, as a person ages, there is a decrease in the production of squalene, which leads to dryness, wrinkles, fine lines, and a significant lack of elasticity. For this reason, it is important to increase on one’s intake of squalene as a supplement for what is lacking. Squalene is found also in animals and plants. It is also present on shark liver oil. Discovered by Dr. Tsujimoto, a chemist from Japan in 1906, squalene has been used by Japanese fishermen because of its healing and health benefits as well. Soon, more studies made by scientists in the 30s showed the immunity of sharks from certain diseases like cancer, providing answers as to how squalene could provide so many benefits.
