8 Free and simple tools for teachers to create video tutorials | Collaboration in teaching and learning | Scoop.it

"One of the important digital skills that the 21st century teachers should have is the ability to create video tutorials to share with students.....

For use in education, a tutorial can be just a simple video explaining a difficult concept or a methodical process that walk students through different steps and stages. There are several free tools to help you do that and you do not need any advanced technology skills to use them; all you need is a solid will and a committment to what you want to do."

Social-media sites are considered by most enterprises only in terms of their potential as a marketing tool. It's obvious that Twitter, Facebook and other social networking outlets are channels through which your enterprise can deliver information and engage students, customers and anybody else with an unprecedented level of reach and creativity.

These cultural treasures include, but are not limited to, manuscripts, maps, rare books, musical scores, recordings, films, prints, photographs, and architectural drawings. Items on the WDL may easily be browsed by place, time, topic, type of item, and contributing institution, or can be located by an open-ended search, in several languages. Item-level descriptions and interviews with curators about featured items provide additional information.

The principal objectives of the WDL are to:

•Promote international and intercultural understanding;

•Expand the volume and variety of cultural content on the
Internet;

•Provide resources for educators, scholars, and general

How to Flip the Classroom

How to Flip the Classroom | Collaboration in teaching and learning | Scoop.it

Flipping the classroom involves assigning web-based content as homework that replaces the traditional in-class lecture, making time and space available in the classroom for more inquiry-based projects. Professor Eric Mazur began experimenting with this instructional style at Harvard in the 1990s. In 2004, the Khan Academy videos helped bring the classroom flip into secondary education.

There is a lot of controversy and passion surrounding the flipped classroom. Advocates of flipping point to many advantages including students learning at their own pace, availability of online lessons and time for real work in the classroom. Opponents of flipping point to holes including student access to internet & computer at home, time constraints for students at home if all subjects are flipped and merely transferring bad classroom instructional practices from classroom to the web. Inquiry-Based Learning

Inquiry-Based Learning | Collaboration in teaching and learning | Scoop.it
Inquiry-based learning is founded on students taking the lead in their own learning, but it still requires considerable planning on your part [as teacher, guide, learning architect]. Projects must fit into your larger program structure, goals and plans, but the students will be actively involved in planning the projects with you and asking the questions that launch their individual inquiries.

Loretta VU's curator insight, April 25, 2015 3:01 AM

This is a very interesting video and raises some good questions but working in a school that is currently implementing a BYOD policy all we are seeing are students using their technology for social interactions and gaming.
