ON October 11th the British government will sell around 60% of its stake in the Royal Mail, the state-owned postal service, via a flotation on the London Stock... (Why is Royal Mail, Britain's state-owned postal service, being privatised?
How does mailing ALL your mail trough private for-profit groups like fed-ex sound to you?
Here is the writing on the wall as it looks like our postal services may later be up on the action block as well. Our postal service was mandated to fund all present and future benefits at once, right now, out of their budget. NO other company or organization has been expected to do this and it was a political design. That is driving the US POST OFFICE out of business and pushing yet one more publically held service into for-profit ownership and it is doubtful going all Fed-Ex will lower anyone’s cost for mail. The fact that this sell off is happening in England should be warning that it can happen here as well.
Look here (http://www.heritage.org/research/reports/2013/10/can-the-postal-service-have-a-future) to see some of the Key engineers of the USPS demise if we allow it.
Yes, the link hails from the pockets of the Koch brothers and their ALEC friends that must be drooling to get the wealth of our mail money into their pockets and we won't see USPS nonprofit prices again if that happens and our mail becomes mostly for-profit. Mailing letters Fed Ex runs around $4 or more last I checked.
Look here (http://www.nalc.org/PostalFacts/08292011-fargo-monroe-ri.html) to read the truth about what exactly is going on to break the back of our publically held Postal service.
Before we follow the English lead on this think over this view as well. (http://www.policymic.com/articles/64421/privatizing-the-postal-service-is-a-bad-idea-and-the-uk-has-proof)
