What's Killing Poor White Women?

What's Killing Poor White Women? | Coffee Party Feminists | Scoop.it

by MONICA POTTS, prospect.org

For most Americans, life expectancy continues to rise—but not for uneducated white women. They have lost five years, and no one knows why.

"Lack of access to education, medical care, good wages, and healthy food isn’t just leaving the worst-off Americans behind. It’s killing them."

Be a Champion for Critical Thinking

Be a Champion for Critical Thinking | Coffee Party Feminists | Scoop.it

There are some in America who want to eliminate Critical Thinking from all levels of education. They tried in Texas but failed, but it is on the Agenda for a segment of people who claim to be a part of the Republican Party.

With 2014 looming and America falling behind the rest of the World on Education do we really want to eliminate CRITICAL THINKING from our educational system?

There can be no viable future for America without true Critical Thinking at all levels of development.

When is shunning not discrimination? Lunch w Louden 2/27/14

When is shunning not discrimination? Lunch w Louden 2/27/14 | Coffee Party Feminists | Scoop.it

When is public shunning not discrimination? When the law says so. At least that is the opinion of the Arizona Legislature. "After the Arizona Legislature gave approval on Thursday to allow business owners to assert their religious beliefs and refuse service to gays, Governor Brewer has vetoed the bill. Kansas avoided passing a similar bill last week by tabling it in committee at he behest of business interests.

Who is behind this new attempt to validate religious discrimination?

After months of study, we have come up with three questions:

1. What is the freedom sought by this kind of legislation?
2. Should the State engage in resolving religious disagreements?
3. Who benefits from these legal attempts to legitimize discrimination?

Today, we invite you to a conversation about this new round of proposed laws that pit human rights against religious rights. What do you think? Please join in!

Hoarding Cash v Spreading the Wealth: Lunch w Louden 3/13/14

Hoarding Cash v Spreading the Wealth: Lunch w Louden 3/13/14 | Coffee Party Feminists | Scoop.it
Hoarding the Cash or Spreading the Wealth?

Monday on Join the Coffee Party Movement's Facebook page, we posted the following quote from the play (and movie) Hello Dolly on Join the Coffee Party Movement. "Money, pardon the expression, is like manure. It's not worth a thing unless it's spread around, encouraging young things to grow."

We asked the simple question, “how would YOU spread money/manure around?” While our post never said ANYTHING about taxes or giving money to the government, most of the 300+ comments on the Facebook post assumed that is what we meant.

So let's try this again: If YOU had the money to spread around and encourage young things to grow, what would you nurture? How would you use the money? Or would you hoard it?

Join us on Lunch with Louden and share your ideas of “encouraging young things to grow.” LUNCH w LOUDEN Jeanene Louden and co-host Debilyn Molineaux talk about current events and look for opportunities to bridge political divides, expose corruption and share information not covered in mainstream media.

"Homework" articles are posted on LunchWithLouden

When is public shunning not discrimination? When the law says so. At least that is the opinion of the Arizona Legislature.

"After the Arizona Legislature gave approval on Thursday to allow business owners to assert their religious beliefs and refuse service to gays, Rocco's Little Chicago Pizzeria in Tucson put up this sign.
